The 2025 season is already over for Marc Márquez. This can be summarized in a few words because through an official statement Ducati has confirmed that Marc Márquez will not be present in the rest of the races of the 2025 season nor in the preseason tests that will be held on the Tuesday after the Valencian Community GP.
Therefore, the MotoGP World Champion will not be able to enjoy the last weekends of the year, something that does not influence the championship in any way since he has the title mathematically assured from Japan, but which is more complicated when it comes to the tests.
Ultimately, during this day of testing, Ducati could test different solutions in the hands of the Spaniard for 2026 and refine or discard them to arrive with something advanced for the preseason tests in January in Sepang. However, he will not be able to follow the Catalan’s instructions and will have to focus on the sensations of the rest of the official drivers.
Even so, this loss of Marc Márquez does not imply that the recovery process is being correct. After last week’s operation, Marc underwent a check-up at the Ruber International Hospital (Madrid) with doctors Raúl Barco, Samuel Antuña and Ignacio Roger, who determined that although the clinical evolution of the coracoid fracture and the ligament injury is completely positive and continues its course normally, the pilot will need a total of 4 weeks with the area immobilized before beginning the rehabilitation phase.
Both Dall’Igna and Márquez himself wanted to offer their points of view on the situation, which is very different from what could have been imagined on Sunday of the Japanese GP.
Gigi Dall’Igna (General Director of Ducati Corse): “Since we learned of the diagnosis of the injury we knew that the chances of having Marc in Valencia for the Grand Prix and for the test were really low. It is a shame because for us it is very important to have him on the track, but we know perfectly well that the priority is for him to recover well to return to 100% thinking about next season. We totally agree with the decision and are convinced that not taking risks is the best thing for everyone. We wish him a good recovery and we hope to see him soon with us”.
Marc Marquez: “Analyzing the entire situation, we believe that the most appropriate, intelligent and coherent thing is to respect the biological deadlines of the injury, even if this means that I will not be able to compete this season or be in the tests. We know that we have a hard winter, with a lot of work, with the aim of recovering the muscles to 100% and being prepared for the next season. This cannot cloud or make us forget that the great objective, that of being World Champions, we have already achieved and that soon we will celebrate again together. Thank you to all the fans for the messages and to Ducati and the sponsors for the support and understanding.”
It is not the way to end the season expected by anyone, but there are issues to be resolved
A splash of cold water for fans who may be expecting a reappearance of Marc in Cheste but a decision based solely on medical criteria. A clear contrast with what happened in 2020 from which, there is no doubt, he drew a very painful conclusion that he is now applying.
Now it only remains to know which rider will get on the ’93 bike in the last two races. Ducati has not yet confirmed anything, although there was speculation that, if necessary, it would be Nicolo Bulega who could get on the bike. In the coming weeks, Ducati Corse will decide which driver it is, although one question remains: Will there be a photo of the champions at the end of the Valencia race? Will Marc be there? Surely we will soon clear up doubts.
