The Honda CBR600F4like the previous and subsequent generations of the model, is considered one of the most versatile motorcycles that we can buy. Because it’s just as good for us to go out for a curve on a Sunday as it is to use it every day to go to work.
Likewise, it is the ideal base to turn it into an efficient track tool. If you don’t believe me, take a look at this one Honda CBR600F4, who once belonged to the team with which Pere Riba He competed in the Supersport world championship.
Honda CBR600 F4 Castrol Factory in detail
Now the friends of Iconic Motorbikes are in charge of auctioning it to the highest bidder. Behind this CBR600 F4 Castrol Factory from the year 2000 there is an exciting history related to competition. In any case, focusing exclusively on the model, it is worth highlighting the impression it made on some vintage testers when it was presented in 1999:
“It has more power, weighs less, comes equipped with better brakes and suspension, has quicker steering, makes less noise, has wider wheels and provides more response. This is not to say that the F3 wasn’t a great motorcycle, it’s just that the F4 outperforms the F3 in every measurable category.”
They conclude: “The Honda CBR600 F4 is a motorcycle with which you can compete in a national championship and ride comfortably on the highway with little more than a change in the suspension and a good set of tires. It certainly lived up to everyone’s expectations of being a great street bike that can also go flat out on a race track.”
This CBR600 F4 Castrol Factory currently belongs to Mark Laneowner of Dreamcycle, a motorcycle museum located in Sorrento, British Columbia, Canada. This explains that: “This bike was made with the best parts from the five Castrol Honda competition bikes of the Pere Riba team. “It is the last remaining example and was used in exhibitions throughout Europe after the 2000 racing season.”
“The bike was sold in 2009 to Chris Parrish, who in turn sold it to another gentleman, who restored the bike and commissioned Tony Scott Tuning LTD UK to redo the engine. The engine was only run a few times after the restoration, but was never driven or raced. Tony Scott Tuning LTD was building engines for Honda Factory Racing when this bike was raced. Tony Scott racing engines have a proven track record of racing victories, check out the documents. “Then I bought the motorcycle from this man and I have had it on display in my museum for the last twelve years.”
Although Pere Riba’s CBR600 F4 Castrol Factory does not have a chassis number, it does retain the engine code: PC35E-2128625. Among the main modifications it has are a large radiator, carbon-Kevlar bodywork, factory wiring, full titanium Akrapovic exhaust, etc. Regarding its maintenance:
“Completely rebuilt racing engine by Tony Scott Racing UK, see documentation. It has been stored for the last 15 years in an environmentally controlled room without fuel or battery. It will be sold in its current condition. Please note that this motorcycle requires 98 octane or higher fuel.”
Currently, in auction mode, the maximum bid that has been bid until the moment I type these lines is just over 3,000 euros, of course an insufficient amount to reach the minimum reserve price.
