Honda North Carolina Manufacturing continues to move into the future
Honda North Carolina Manufacturing recently announced a planned investment of 9,658 million dollars to continue the process of modernizing the facilities. This will allow employees to manufacture essential all-terrain vehicle (ATV) parts in-house, such as front and rear fenders, side covers, tool box lids and other components used in the assembly of ATVs.
Honda’s investment will incorporate new equipment, will create 18 new jobs and will offer training and education opportunities for employees over the next five years. Lynne Hedrickhead of the NCM plant, said: “By equipping Honda North Carolina Manufacturing with significant new capabilities to manufacture key parts for our products right here at our facility, we can continue to expand our off-road vehicle business in North Carolina.”
Concludes: “We appreciate Alamance County’s continued support and look forward to the benefits this investment will bring to our employees and the region.” Modernization efforts will seek to improve production flexibility and reduce operating costs by optimizing available space, in line with Honda’s overall mission to reduce its environmental impact.
The project also includes the implementation of a resource recirculation solution with a new plastic pelletizer to reuse waste and minimize production waste. Additionally, the proposed improvements will incorporate new equipment that uses electricity to reduce the plant’s carbon footprint. Ryan Moffittpresident of the Alamance Chamber of Commerce board of directors for 2025, comments:
“We are excited to see the continued growth and innovation of companies whose legacy is firmly rooted in Alamance County. Honda North Carolina Manufacturing is a great example of local investment driving our community’s business future.” Since its founding in Swepsonville in 1984, NCM has grown from manufacturing Honda lawn mowers to becoming Honda’s exclusive plant for all-terrain vehicle (ATV) production in North America.
In 2023, NCM added ATVs to its production line, inaugurating a new era in the powersports sector at this plant with a long history in the manufacture of motorized equipment. This latest investment represents Honda’s latest step to strengthen the future of advanced manufacturing in North Carolina, further establishing the region as a center of innovation and excellence in powersports vehicle production.
