Honda Vfr800 Kamaitachi, the tribute to Akira you were waiting

The Japanese manga serial, known worldwide under the name of Akira, usually offers us the possibility of knowing preparations like this Honda Vfr800 Kamaitachi “Interceptor Cyberpunk” Inspired, precisely, in the mount that pilots the protagonist of the story, Shotaro Kaneda.

In fact, over the last years we have echoed any of these projects that are sometimes really interesting. Here we leave some of them for the delight of unconditional fans of the famous Japanese comic:

However, unlike the previous preparations that we have previously detailed, this VFR800 Kamaitachi combines a unique style, versatility and unmistakable magic of the V4 block of Honda. A compendium that perfectly explains the owner and creator of “the work”, Jan Hrbek:

“I just wanted to create a machine that would allow me to occasionally escape the monotony of reality. I was looking for an adequate motorcycle with the magical sound of the V4 and also some reliability; it turned out that the 5th generation Honda VFR800 of 2001 was perfect for me.” HRBEK, by profession a graphic designer in 3D, is an inveterate lover of the neo-Tokyo style, as well as the preparations made on any motorcycle.

He also feels weakness for Japanese culture, hence the nickname of “Kamaitachi”, for this VFR800 fi. As explained by Return of the Café Racers, this term refers to a creature of Japanese mythology. “It is a yokai in the shape of a comadreja, a supernatural entity, transported by a diabolical wind and with long holes -shaped claws”explains Jan.

To shape this VFR800 Kamaitachi, HRBEK said of 8 months, which includes the time of the design of the body pieces, a work done by the same in his personal workshop. Subsequently, he sent these 3D designs to the company that was responsible for its manufacture, to then proceed to the painting and decoration of them. Some remarkable technical aspects of this work are:

  • The metal details of the side panels were formed by laser sintering
  • The custom fuel tank was performed by CNC
  • The registration holder is made of a 10 mm aluminum plate

Other relevant details that complete this VFR800 Kamaitachi are, for example, the new elements that make up LED lighting with lighthouse and new bill. Also the yellow front dome cut to measure, the redesign of the rear subchassis, a cave and colin colle with exclusive upholstery, or the LED flashing of Highsider. But there is more, much more, in this long list of modifications:
