Hyundai RN24 Concept: the crazy prototype that investigates electrification in competition

Hyundai is one of the most active brands in competition and that also allows it to have a range of vehicles of high performance with last name N. So much so, that in recent times they have shown several prototypes with a sporty look that fans like so much. After the RN30 and RN22, now it is the turn of the Hyundai RN24 Concept. It is something very different from what we have seen before, with a somewhat extreme and crazy point that allows it to be a true rolling laboratory.

With this prototype they want to investigate the possibilities that the high-performance electric vehicles in the future. The Korean brand wants to fulfill three pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sportscar. That refers to the fun, the ability on the track and the possibilities of driving it daily. Although by design it does not seem the most practical to us, since the Hyundai RM24 Concept is just an exposed chassis. With that exoskeleton formed by the safety cage and without any bodywork it looks very racing.

As we said, it has an electric propulsion system. It is the most powerful in the house, the same one that the Ioniq 5 N has with its 650 HP. However, it is on a more compact and lighter base, so it will have a more dynamic behavior. It retains the 84 kWh battery, but has a 34 cm shorter wheelbase, to reach a size of i20 N. Although we would rather compare it with which it competes in the WRCsince the suspension has a similar scheme, with rally shock absorbers and high rigidity auxiliary frames.

Other surprising details of the Hyundai RN24 Concept would be the N Active Sound+ system to have a simulated sound, the Rally mode to have more precise torque control between the four wheels or an electronic handbrake that is the same as the one found in racing cars. Despite not having a body, some could not be missing. N Performance Parts such as the 19-inch wheels on the Elantra N in matte black or the spoiler on the models that compete in the TCR, which helps improve their aerodynamic performance.
