If you like Vintage, the W 230 and Meguro S1 will go straight to your heart

For some time now we have been talking to you about the W 230 and the Meguro S1. Yes, the factory has been showing these two models with clear vintage tinges at different Asian fairs. Technically both are Kawasaki identical, although the variant Meguro It is more reminiscent of the historical roots of the Japanese brand.

This same month of October, Kawasaki has confirmed that the W 230 and Meguro S1 They will arrive in Europe. Both motorcycles have Euro 5+ approval, an effective single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled engine (233 cc), a maximum power of 18 hpa weight of only 143 kg, a full 12 liter tank and a seat height of 745 mm. The air-cooled engine of the Kawasaki W 230 and Meguro S1 It’s an old acquaintance. This single-cylinder four-stroke, now with different casings, is the one used in Asia in the KL 230 and KLX 230both in Enduro and Supermoto versions. It has a bore of 67mm and a stroke of 66mm, giving it an almost square configuration and a displacement of 233cc.

It features an overhead camshaft (OHC) that drives two valves and, with a compression ratio of 9.0:1, meets Euro 5+ standards. Its maximum power, as we mentioned before, is 18 HP (12.9 kW) at 7,000 rpm, it has a torque of 18.6 Nm at 5,800 rpm. Additionally, it includes a 6-speed transmission. An element not too common in this type of motorcycle. Of course, logically, in Europe you can drive with an A2 license or higher.

The chassis of the Kawasaki W 230 and Meguro S1 maintains a classic design. It uses a steel tube frame and swingarm, two five-level adjustable rear shock absorbers and a 37mm telescopic fork with bellows at the front. The spoked wheels, with narrow tires, are 18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, with tire sizes of 90/90-18 and 110/90-17 respectively. Both axles are equipped with disc brakes and ABS system.

The fenders are made of steel, which contributes to the retro style. Despite this, they are light motorcycles, weighing just 143 kg with a full tank. Other specifications include a wheelbase of 1,415 mm, a steering angle of 63 degrees and suspension travel of 117 mm at the front and 95 mm at the rear.

The Kawasaki W 230 and Meguro S1 They have electric start, a small LCD digital screen, accompanied by two symmetrical circular clocks for the speedometer and tachometer. The lighting, as it could not be otherwise, is based on LED diodes instead of traditional light bulbs.

As for the differences, they are identical in terms of technology, but present aesthetic variations. The Meguro S1black (Ebony) and with a chrome tank, includes additional chrome details, exclusive emblems and a different seat.
