Honda recently announced that the Honda WN7 and the UNI-ONE mobility robot have been awarded the prize “Red Dot: Best of the Best”the highest distinction awarded by the prestigious product design organization. In addition, the brand’s new hybrid coupe, the Prelude e:HEV and the Miimo 1500i/2200i robotic lawnmower models have also been named Red Dot winners in the same competition.
Since 2020, Honda has received Red Dot awards for 22 products across its motorcycle, automobile and power product ranges. In addition, the Honda WN7 is the brand’s third product to receive the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award, following the Honda e in 2020 and the Fastport eQuad, a fully electric last-mile micromobility vehicle, in 2025.
The Honda WN7 at the forefront of innovation
The Honda WN7 is Honda’s first electric motorcycle, developed under the concept of “Be the Wind”. This model adopts a structure in which the battery box, located in the center of the body, is part of the frame. The adoption of this conventional frameless structure resulted in a lightweight package with great design flexibility, which contributed significantly to achieving a slim and compact silhouette.
Aiming to “refine functionality and capture the essence of motorcycle design,” the design features smooth, seamless surfaces in rider contact areas, while combining a distinctive and powerful silhouette. The Honda WN7’s signature headlight features a horizontal bar design, which will be adopted as a common identity for future Honda electric motorcycle models.
After receiving the award Toshinobu MinamiGeneral Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Design Center, Honda R&D Co., Ltd., commented: “The Honda WN7 and UNI-ONE have received the Red Dot Award: Best of the Best, while the new Prelude and Miimo1500i/2200i have won the Red Dot Award at the Red Dot Design Awards: Product Design, a world-renowned design award.”
concludes “We are very honored to receive the Red Dot Awards for the seventh consecutive year. We believe these awards reflect the fact that many people identify with Honda’s passion to further improve mobility and facilitate everyday activities to make people’s daily lives more fun and enjoyable. Honda will continue to create new values that surprise and inspire people and give them the joy of expanding the potential of their lives.”
