Toroenmoto: The trip of a life on a motorcycle prepared for everything
Julio Álamo, Madrid’s journalist and adventurer, has culminated in Japan a deed that mixes motor, culture and emotion in equal parts: visiting all the bulls of Osborne who still stand up for the world. And he has done it as every two wheel lover should do: on a motorcycle that endures any land, in this case, the Tiger Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer.
What began in 2017 as a weekend getaway ended up becoming one of the most unique biker trips in recent years. The challenge: visit the 89 figures of the bull in Spain, 4 in Mexico, 1 in Denmark and, finally, 1 in Japan. More than 21,000 kilometers, 11 crossed countries and a mixture of landscapes, cultures and challenges that would test both the pilot and its mount.
The last stage of the trip began on May 3 in the port of Santa María (Cádiz), point of origin of the bull of Osborne and the project itself. From there, Julio and his Tiger crossed Europe and Central Asia, touring Italy, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrguistan, Mongolia and, finally, Japan. An epic journey that included ferrys, nights in Yurtas, step by remote mountain ranges, meetings with local bikers and even greeting to the gigantic statue of Genghis Khan in Mongolia.
The Tiger Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer, the perfect motorcycle for the unknown
It is no accident that Julio chose the TRIUMPH TIGER 1200 RALY EXPLORER To face this challenge. We talk about a large displacement trail designed for the real adventure, with a cycle part and a reference electronics. Its T-Plane trichylindrical engine of 1,160 cc, its semi-active showa suspensions, 21-inch front tire, 30-liter tank and its complete electronic (driving modes, ABS and curve-wheel control, quickshifter, fists and heating seat, TFT screen, etc.) make it an ideal partner for long trip demanding
And this is confirmed by July:
“This motorcycle has not only taken me to the last bull, it has also helped me gain confidence in very difficult times. The stage in Kyrgyzstan was key to understanding that I could go further than I thought.”
It is not surprising that this same mount has been chosen by pilots as Sam Sunderland For challenges like going around the world in record time.
An arrival loaded with symbolism
The Japanese bull, nicknamed Black Symbolwas installed in 2018 in Matsunoyama onsen as part of the Echigo-Tsumari art triennial. There, Julio was received by more than 120 people in an event that mixed tradition, respect and emotion. Among them, local authorities, schoolchildren and representatives of the Tourism Association. The ceremony included a traditional ritual to desire a safe return and an emotional exchange with local school students.
For July, arriving in Japan has been much more than reaching a destination. It has been to close a life cycle:
“More than a trip, it has been a transformation. I have crossed countries, yes … but above all I have gone through fears, questions, tiredness and emotion. This bull represents not only a destiny, but a personal and symbolic conquest.”
Much more than a campaign, a story of overcoming
From the first moment, Triumph Motorcycles has turned to the Toroenmoto project, not as a simple promotional action, but as a way of paying tribute to the spirit of the motorist who seeks more than kilometers.
“Toroenmoto is much more than a trip. It is a human story that tests Paloma LenceMarketing Manager of Triumph Spain and Portugal.
And now what?
Although the arrival in Japan is the official closure of his challenge, Julio does not rule out to prolong his trip and turn him into a return to the world. But the truth is that, with this last figure visited, it makes clear that Any excuse is good for motorcycle… And that, if you have the right companion, there is no geographical or emotional limit that you cannot overcome.
