Originally launched in 2018 and relaunched in 2022 with production in China, the 2027 model refresh marks the bold return of “The Scalpel”representing the most complete evolution in the history of this model to date. It builds on the success of its predecessors and incorporates key improvements inspired by KTM’s flagship models, the 990 Duke and KTM 1390 Super Duke.
With an aggressive design, more intuitive technology and ergonomic improvements designed for the user, it reinforces its position in the mid-displacement naked motorcycle segment. Among the main new features are the redesigned headlight, an aerodynamic body, a larger front fairing and a redesigned fuel tank.
KTM 790 Duke 2027 engine
The LC8c (Liquid Cooled 8 Valve compact) engine of the 2027 KTM 790 Duke needs no introduction, as it was incorporated into the original model in 2018, becoming the lightest and most compact DOHC parallel twin in the segment. With 799 cc, 8 valves and a crankshaft inclination angle of 75 degrees, it offers a maximum torque of 87 Nm at 8,000 rpm and 105 HP of final power at 9,500 rpm in its Full-Power version.
The 2027 KTM 790 Duke is also available in an L variant of 95 hp to comply with the legal requirements of the A2 permit. In any case, fuel consumption is 4.6 l/100 km in both engine versions. Additionally, in this 2027 version it has an exhaust system designed to meet EURO 5+ homologation requirements, and includes three lambda sensors that continuously monitor emissions.
Cycle part of the KTM 790 Duke 2027
Manufactured from chrome-molybdenum (CroMo) tubular steel, the lightweight chassis of the 2027 KTM 790 Duke features carefully engineered rigidity to deliver sporty performance and exceptional rider response, using the engine as a load-bearing element, dramatically reducing the amount of material needed for a robust and rigid chassis.
The subframe, meanwhile, is a completely new one-piece cast aluminum design, incorporating the air filter box and side air intakes into its construction, thus optimizing layout and lowering the center of gravity of the KTM 790 Duke, while the large, aggressive air intakes improve airflow by channeling cold air directly to the engine.

Regarding the suspension section, the new model has a 43 mm WP APEX inverted front fork with open cartridge and 150 mm of travel and uses split function technology, which means that compression and rebound damping is managed by independent fork bars. This design allows for more precise adjustment now offering 5 clicks for both compression damping (left fork) and rebound damping (right fork).
At the rear we have a gas-assisted WP Apex monotube rear shock absorber. Rebound is adjustable via 5 clicks and manual preload, while an additional 5mm of shock travel and 20mm of wheel travel improve overall performance, offering better response over soft bumps and more support in the initial travel.

One of the main novelties of the KTM 790 Duke 2027 is found in the braking, signed for the occasion by WP components, maintaining the previous configuration in the front axle of two 300 mm floating discs and radially mounted 4-piston calipers, controlled by a radial brake master cylinder. At the rear, a 240 mm disc and a 1-piston caliper complement this system.
Finally, as far as total dimensions are concerned, the brand declares a empty weight of 167 kilograms. To this figure we must add the 13.5 liters of fuel that your gasoline tank can hold. With a wheelbase of 1,475mmthe seat is placed just 825mm from the ground, forming a new ergonomic triangle with respect to the previous version of the model.

Equipment and finishes of the KTM 790 Duke 2027
For 2027, the KTM 790 Duke includes a series of general improvements among which we can highlight a completely updated bodywork in line with the rest of its older sisters in the range. The front fairing has been deliberately made larger, while the fuel tank has been carefully reshaped to ensure constant, natural contact between the rider’s knees and the tank surface.
The new lighthouse is a statement of intent. Aggressive and minimalist, it aligns perfectly with the characteristics of the KTM Naked range, retaining its own identity while introducing subtle improvements that suit its character. Made of a lightweight fiberglass-reinforced plastic that ensures rigidity and stability against vibrations, the headlight features unique details with an intentional space between the projector and the light.

This creates a very technical and floaty look. The position and daytime running lights are integrated along the outer edge of the headlight, and their intensity is automatically adjusted by a light sensor integrated into the dashboard for optimal visibility. A central low beam is automatically activated in low light conditions, making a seamless transition from the daytime running light.
For its part, the electronic package of the 2027 KTM 790 Duke evolves the established platform of its predecessor, highlighting a refined 5-inch TFT screen with improved housing and coating. The entire menu structure is designed to give pilots faster access to functions with far fewer clicks, using intuitive graphics to illustrate each menu function and show at a glance what is being changed or used.

In Track mode, two screen layouts are available; However, only the essential elements to maintain optimal pilot concentration are shown. Drivers can choose between a general setting, which focuses on the lap time function and displays only the most relevant data, or a functional telemetry setting, with a focus on lean angles, acceleration, deceleration, throttle response and lap timer.
Combined with multiple driving modes and premium features like cornering ABS, wheelie control and launch control, it delivers a proven and improved driving experience. KTM also paid close attention to consumer feedback and opted to cancel Demo Mode on all upcoming KTM models. Finally, it is worth mentioning the aforementioned remodeled silencer.

This now offers a more harmonious shape, while meeting technical restrictions, thanks to the removal of the roof and the adoption of a new construction approach. This new design eliminates visible welds using a laminated construction that requires a single weld seam, located on the inner bottom and hidden from view in the side profile.
Additionally, a new fine cast aluminum end cap has been developed with a black powder coat finish. Its function is to cover the weld seam of the end cap and improve the overall look, while a new heel protector has also been added to the passenger footpegs for greater thermal protection.

Of course we cannot forget the wide range of KTM PowerParts that the brand offers us optionally. Here we can find everything from the Akrapovič titanium and Remus slip-on stainless steel silencers, to the single-seat passenger seat cover or the Ergo Rider seat with three height options available: standard, 14 mm lower or 20 mm higher.
CNC machined aluminum mirror kits are also available, along with a handlebar end mirror kit, providing subtle but effective styling upgrades. Finally, the windshield and screen options add a distinctive visual touch. The windshield kit improves wind protection, providing greater comfort on long journeys, while the screen adds a sporty visual style and is available in tinted or carbon options.
