Despite the financial problems that KTM is going through, it seems that it has not resigned to have the most powerful monocilindrical engine in the market inside its range. That is at least what the brand has recently announced on the occasion of the official presentation of its new 690 range next to the Husqvarna 701 2025. In any of the four models, the Austrian group implements its new LC4 that for the occasion declares a power maximum of 79 hp.
The KTM monocylindrical engine is crown again as king of the category
Just a few days ago, taking advantage of the frame that the fair provided Moto-Austria in Wels, Austria, The orange firm officially presented its new 690 models, including the SMC R and the Enduro variant, both equipped with the well -known 693 cc monocylinder engine responsible for propelting both models so far. However, and as a maximum novelty, KTM declares a power greater than the one that until now approves for this mechanic.
Specifically a final power of 79 hp and a maximum torque of 73 nm. These figures suggest that the well -known monocylinder engine of the Austrian firm has not undergone draft changes, including an increase in displacement. In fact, the maximum torque is somewhat lower, but in return it manages to solve one of the greatest inconveniences to which all motorcycle models are faced today. We speak of course of the new Euro5+, regulations to which the new 690 generation of KTM seems to be adopted.
Therefore, if we resort to the hateful comparisons, the monocillindrical engine of the new 690 ktm would be 1.5 hp more powerful than the novel Ducati monkey superquadro, the same one that mounts since its official launch the Ducati Hypermotard 698. This declares a maximum power of 77.5 hp of power at 9,750 rpm (the limiter is adjusted to 10,250 rpm) and 63 nm torque at 8,000 rpm.
Beyond the mechanical aspect and benefits, the new 690 KTM, as well as the 701 models of Husqvarna, will arrive From the second quarter to the dealers of both brands. As a striking fact in all of them, there is a considerable increase in its final weight (between 4 and 6 kilos, depending on the model) and an increase in seat height (up to 9 mm, according to the model).
In addition, all of them will include among the standard equipment a new instrument frame, as well as an LED lighting system. All this for a price that will start from approximately 12,499 euros, as announced by the brand during the fair, where it announced its new mounts equipped with the most powerful monocylinder engine on the market.
