KTM enriches its current range of 2025 models with the new 125 Enduro R and 390 Enduro R 2025. As it did recently with its new 125 SMC R and 390 SMC R, the Austrian brand puts all its experience and dedication into the development of two Frames intended essentially for those holders of the current A1 and A2 licenses. These feature long-travel suspensions, 21/18-inch wire wheels, a new minimalist TFT dashboard and even the option to disable ABS completely.
KTM 125 Enduro R and 390 Enduro R 2025 in detail
The two Enduro R with a smaller displacement arrive sharing a common base, which includes essential elements of the cycle and equipment. Mechanically, both KTM Enduro R models are powered by a new generation of LC4c single-cylinder engines, which debuted in the recent KTM Duke range.
Both engines are completely redesigned, with cylinder heads and gearboxes recently optimized and in compliance with the new EURO 5+. To do this they use a larger valve cover with a smaller cylinder head, which reduces weight at the top end of the engine. A new thermostat position, mounted directly on the cylinder head, improves thermal control and provides more stable operating temperatures in different driving conditions.
The new injectors are now angled directly into the intake valves to reduce buildup in the intake runner. These new injectors also provide finer fuel spray, resulting in more efficient combustion and fewer emissions. A new airbox has also been specifically optimized to fit the KTM Enduro R package. This allows the engine to sit higher, increasing ground clearance and allowing for a more centered off-road riding triangle.
A unique stainless steel exhaust design means the system fitted to the KTM 390 Enduro R and 125 Enduro R does not require a tailpipe. This has resulted in a total weight saving of two kilograms. The new exhaust is equipped with a double catalyst to comply with Euro 5+ regulations and features active control whereby the ECU not only adjusts the fuel mixture for optimal detonation, but also adjusts the mixture to ensure a correct temperature. optimal for reducing emissions.
The active combustion system also works to detect any misfires, which helps diagnose the condition of the catalytic converter and store information for OBDII diagnostics. Likewise, the improved gear guide has reduced the shifting forces within the gearbox. The shape of the shift drum has been optimized to more easily shift between 5th and 6th gear, making gear movements along the axles smoother.
The shifter travel has also been reduced, resulting in quicker, more responsive action. All models now have a power-assisted slipper clutch fitted, with optimized gearing in the clutch basket and flywheel, reducing weight and making the clutch easier to control.
At the chassis level a new 2-piece steel trellis frame design is based on the Gen 3 platform shared with the Duke models, but features a different head angle, triple clamps with 25mm handlebar risers, subframe and stiffness profile, designed specifically for off-road use, with improved handling, control and stability.
The new frame is also designed for greater clearance for the radiator pack and a larger 21″ wheel. This works with a new subframe and a gravity die-cast swingarm. At the suspension level, the Enduro R range has a 43 mm WP APEX inverted fork at the front, while at the rear we find a displaced monoshock. In both cases we have up to 230 mm of travel on both axles, and different settings if we talk about the 390 Enduro R.
Braking uses 285 mm radial discs at the front and 240 mm at the rear. The assembly is anchored to 17” wheels at each end, shod with 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 tires, front and rear respectively. While the KTM 390 SMC R has radial type wheels, the 125 SMC R is equipped with alloy wheels.
Both the KTM 390 Enduro R and 125 Enduro R come equipped with 21” front and 18” rear spoked wheels, ready to hit the dirt. These are equipped with tried and tested Metzeler Karoo 4 tires, in dimensions 90/90R-21 and 140/80R-18 respectively. Both versions come with a selectable ABS Offroad mode. This allows you to lock the rear wheel, also having a dedicated ABS deactivation switch that deactivates it on both wheels.
In terms of equipment, finishes and technology, the Enduro R range incorporates LED lights and comes with a new 4.2-inch TFT instrument panel with connectivity functions, such as a music player through the KTM Connect application, the ability to answer incoming calls and turn-by-turn navigation. The new instrument panels are operated from a 4-way joystick with optimized ergonomics and illuminated switches.
Likewise, the KTM 390 Enduro R has selectable riding modes and disconnectable Traction Control. When the motorcycle is turned off, it remembers the selected Riding Mode and retains this mode once it is turned on. All KTM Enduro R models are equipped with dual-channel ABS, this is thanks to the Bosch 10.3 MB Modulator.
Finally, the 2025 KTM 125 Enduro R and KTM 390 Enduro R models feature all-new, off-road-inspired styling, with a clear, definitive KTM design set in rugged in-mold graphics. The Austrian brand announces that the new 125 and 390 Enduro R will arrive at dealerships in early 2025, with a official price of 5,599 and 6,399 euros respectively.
