Although Scott Redding has been competing in the World Championship since 2008, the truth is that he is still relatively young. At just 32 years old, he has incredible experience in racing, with truly important performances in the Motorcycle World Championship first and then in the Superbike Championship.
We must not forget that Redding is, and probably will forever be, the youngest rider to win a World Motorcycle Grand Prix. In total, in the World Speed Championship he had 16 victories, 58 podiums, 5 poles and 17 fastest laps before leaving MotoGP at the end of 2018.
In the premier category he failed to shine, but then he moved to the British BSB in 2019 and with 11 victories and 20 podiums in 27 races, he took the title at the first attempt before moving to the World Superbike. In 2020 he fought Jonathan Rea to finish in second position, and in 2021 he also fought Toprak Razgatliolglu.
That runner-up finish and third place in his debut years seemed to indicate that Redding could become a major figure in WSBK, but in 2022 he started driving for BMW and since then he has not shined again, not even being able to get on the podium even in 2023 nor in 2024.
Redding continues with MGM Bonobo, but returns to Ducati
For the new season, Scott will once again ride a Ducati Panigale V4 R, but he will do so integrated into the same structure as in 2024, the MGM Bonovo that changes the complicated BMW M 1000 RR for the more manageable Italian motorcycle. In fact, while with the BMW only Razgatlioglu is able to shine, with the Ducati there are many riders who are capable of being competitive, which leaves hope of seeing Redding again in battle.
At the moment the Briton is riding in the Jerez tests with his new bike and with some striking colors, but the truth is that he has been riding non-stop for weeks in private sessions on different circuits on the peninsula. And Redding, far from the image of a rebel that he may have conveyed at some point in his racing career, is today a hard-working driver with the talent to be able to put the top drivers on the spot.
If we are looking forward to the races starting, Scott will surely have many more and, as he has stated on the networks from the first moment he got on the Ducati, he is having a lot of fun. And that is the best that can happen to him and the championship.
