KYMCO CV-X45 2027: a new crossover scooter with raid spirit and chain drive
KYMCO continues to explore new possibilities within the crossover segment with the launch of the CV-X45, an adventurous scooter that has been officially presented at EICMA 2026. The Taiwanese firm is betting on a different formula than usual in this type of model, combining a mechanical architecture with a central engine and chain transmission with cycle part solutions inspired by the trail world. Its objective is to offer a multipurpose vehicle, capable of handling daily trips with ease and also tackling off-road routes.
The new KYMCO CV-X45 stands out for its unconventional configuration within the scooter universe. Its raid-inspired design, long-travel suspensions and Six-Link rear system are some of its main arguments. In addition, it incorporates equipment aimed at comfort and safety, with cruise control, three driving modes, ABS and traction control. The brand has confirmed that it will be available in Europe during the second quarter of 2027, with a specific color selection for our market.
Engine
The KYMCO CV-X45 uses a 427 cc, four-stroke single-cylinder engine, with four valves, OHC distribution and liquid cooling. Powered by electronic injection, it develops a maximum power of 34.4 HP (25.3 kW) at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm at 5,000 rpm, figures that make it an interesting alternative within medium-displacement crossover scooters.
However, one of the most interesting aspects of its approach is not only in the performance, but in the mechanical layout. KYMCO has opted for a central engine fixed to the frame, instead of resorting to the usual scooter architecture with the engine-transmission assembly integrated into the swingarm. This solution allows a different mass distribution to be configured and seeks to improve dynamic behavior, especially when driving on irregular surfaces.
Another of its peculiarities is the PTM (Power Transmissions Matrix) chain transmission, an unusual solution in this type of vehicle and which reinforces its adventurous orientation. The set also has three driving modes to adapt the engine response to different conditions of use. All this under Euro 5+ approval.
Chassis, suspensions and brakes
The cycle part is probably one of the elements that provides the most personality to the CV-X45. KYMCO has developed a specific configuration for this model, seeking to combine agility, stability and the ability to face different types of terrain.
In the front axle we find an inverted fork with a diameter of 41 mm, with 150 mm of travel. Behind, the main protagonist is the Six-Link suspension, a six-link system that also offers 150 mm of travel and preload regulation. This solution aims to improve the absorption of irregularities and maintain controlled behavior when the terrain becomes complicated.
The braking system is made up of a double front disc and a rear disc, accompanied by ABS and TCS traction control. Two electronic systems that provide extra safety in different grip conditions, especially interesting in a model that aims to go beyond purely urban use.
The aluminum alloy wheels have dimensions of 15 inches at the front and 14 at the rear, and mount mixed Dunlop tires in sizes 120/70-15 and 150/70-14. This combination seeks to offer a compromise between stability on asphalt and the ability to travel on simple tracks.
Regarding its dimensions, the CV-X45 declares a length of 2,240 mm, a width of 890 mm and a height of 1,415 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,565 mm. The curb weight stands at 212 kg, while the seat height is 800 mm. The fuel tank has a capacity of 13.5 liters.
Technology and equipment
KYMCO wanted to accompany its mechanical proposal with equipment designed to facilitate daily use and improve the experience on longer routes. Among its most notable elements are three driving modes, ABS and TCS traction control, as well as cruise control, a particularly interesting addition for road trips.
The digital instrumentation centralizes operating and driving information, while the ergonomics seek to offer a comfortable and natural position. The wide, raised handlebars allow you to maintain an upright posture, with a layout reminiscent of trail motorcycles and facilitate control when riding standing up or on uneven surfaces.
The CV-X45 also focuses on the practicality of a scooter, incorporating ample storage space. In this way, it aims to maintain part of the mobility and loading capacity advantages that characterize this type of vehicle, without giving up a more adventurous orientation.
Colors and options
The design of the KYMCO CV-X45 moves away from the traditional shapes of GT scooters to adopt an aesthetic clearly inspired by adventure motorcycles. Its tall and narrow front integrates two superimposed optics under a raised screen, while the angular lines of the body reinforce its robust image.
The generously sized elevated exhaust also stands out, along with the exposed handlebars and a silhouette that conveys a clear raid inspiration. The brand has confirmed that the model will have a specific color palette for the European market, although it has not yet detailed the final finishes or an accessories catalog.
Price and availability
The new KYMCO CV-X45 will be available in the European market during the second quarter of 2027. For the moment, the Taiwanese firm has not communicated its official price nor has it specified the different commercial versions that will make up its range.
