LML reinvents its Star, now in an electric version

For many the brand LML (Lohia Machines Limited) is a complete unknown, although in India, especially its model Star, They became a real sales attraction at the beginning of this century. However, on June 2, 2017, the brand declared bankruptcy and closed permanently. We have covered some of their models in the past, which you can learn about in these articles:

As you can see, the brand was guided by a classic design, very similar to that of the traditional Vespa, applying simple four-stroke engines that, although they did not stand out for their performance, did offer a good balance between efficiency, consumption and technical reliability.

LML returns with its new Star, this time in a plug-in version

Now, thanks to our colleagues at Autocar India, we have learned about LML’s strategic and commercial plans for the coming years, and these include the launch of a new electric Star. A plug-in city scooter of which they showed their first concept approximately two years ago. Everything indicates that the project is moving forward and that we could soon see the final version of the model.

In the words of Yogesh BhatiaLML’s Managing Director and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement and stated: “As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are eager to make a significant impact on the industry. We look forward to engaging with our audience and showcasing how our innovative approach is set to transform the e-mobility landscape.”

LML reinvents its Star, now in an electric version

If we follow these first images of the Star in its initial stage of development, we can see that it has a harmonious design, far from the retro image of its predecessor. It is equipped with a conventional fork at the front, lateral shock absorbers at the rear and disc brakes on both wheels. Also notable is the use of a toothed belt in the transmission, with the engine placed centrally.

A wide, two-height seat, handlebars facing the rider and a digital display on the dashboard should also be part of the model’s standard equipment. To top it off, a colour scheme mixes the white of the bodywork with the black painted areas and the red details that appear on some elements.

We will have to wait for new information or for the brand itself to announce the next steps to take in the development of the new Star.
