The fall in the Indonesian GP of Marc Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi, fortunately, has finally resulted in a much less serious injury than it could have been. That is what confirms the evidence to which the nine -time world champion has submitted upon his return to Madrid.
After different clinical and radiological exams, the medical team has ruled out any relationship with previous injuries, have confirmed a fracture in the base of the coracoid process and a ligament injury in their right shoulder with the absence of significant bone displacement.
Taking into account the situation, the medical team of the Ruber International Hospital of Madrid, Dr. Samuel Antuña and Dr. Ignacio Roger de Oña have decided to carry out a conservative treatment, as reflected in the official statement, which includes rest and immobilization of the shoulder until its complete recovery and clinical consolidation of the fracture.
There is no return date for Marc, but he will try to return before finishing the season
That directly implies that Marc Márquez will no longer be confirmed, in the Australian GP in two weeks or that of Malaysia in three. Meanwhile, Marc will undergo weekly reviews in which it will be determined how long the races will be.
That is, these first medical tests confirm that the next two appointments are lost, but they cannot confirm whether it will be in Portugal or Valencia, so we will have to wait. In addition, as Márquez himself has recognized in his statements, although the goal that is marked is to return before the season ends, he will do it without forcing beyond what the medical team recommends. Therefore, we will have to be attentive to the evolution of the Catalan pilot who, without a doubt, will not live the end of the season that was waiting once the title was achieved.
Marc Márquez: «Luckily, the injury is not serious, but it is important to respect recovery times. My goal is to return before the season ends, but without forcing beyond what doctors recommend. Both my personal and the team have already been met, so now the priority is to recover well and return to 100%».
