Márquez gives no option in Balaton

New track in Hungary, narrow, revied, against the most important characteristics of the Ducati. A place where, removing most left -wing curves, Marc Márquez could suffer more than usual, but at the time of truth he leaves with the 37 points at stake and putting the rest against the ropes.

A more weekend nobody has been able to go directly to the title with statistics that demonstrate the domain so overwhelming that it is carrying out. A domain that had not been seen in the category in the last decade.

Marc has the championship in the spotlight

Marc is not willing to leave the crumbs

After “letting” escape the pole in Brno and Austria for two falls Marc was not willing to do the same in the return of Hungary to the calendar and the premiere of Balaton Park, so the pole was scored ahead of two pilots who until that time had suffered as are Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who had to go through the Q1.

But the surprise was not so much in the performance of the two Italians, but in the error of Pedro Acosta, who was one of the calls to fight with Marc seen what was seen in the free. So once the Sprint started and with Quartararo making the forecasts good, chaos in the first curve, Marc got to the front to achieve a comfortable advantage over Di Giannantonio (which almost miraculously escaped from Quartarara) and Morbidelli.

We must highlight the good result of Luca Marini, fourth with a deep that in his hands and in those of Joan Mir (sixth) have been competitive in Hungary. Between Fermín Aldeguer that traced. Marco Bezzecchi, penalized by the accident of Curve 1 ended seventh ahead of Álex Márquez and Jorge Martín.

The Hungary GP in the pocket, the World Cup and a domain as never seen before

If Sunday’s race was not a triumphal walk for Marc, it was because of choosing the middle tire behind and for a small error in the 1-2 curve that allowed Bezzecchi, soft behind, getting some of the situation at the start at the beginning.

But once Marc surpassed Morbidelli, who had filed between the two, Marc was able to cut the distances with the Aprilian to get a leader with 15 laps ahead and begin to impose his rhythm without major difficulty. Surely for Marc it was not so simple, but from the outside the feeling of control is absolute and since neither Álex nor Pecco are able to approach it seems that the ability to impose their will at every moment is increasing.

After falling on Saturday, Pedro Acosta did get his rhythm in the race to overcome, advance and finish second. Seeing the last results not only of the Murcian, but of the rest of KTM, the step forward that the Austrians are giving is clear.

The same step forward that they have consolidated in Aprilia because Bezzecchi, after leading the race, ended in a great third position that demonstrates that path they have been building for months and that, at least in this circuit, Jorge Martín has also walked. The 2024 champion follows his recovery process and the pair of adaptation to the motorcycle and after a race in full comeback he reached a fourth position that knows Victoria. One more step to leave behind a start of 2025 that has not been in any sense as they had planned.

And if on Saturday Marini achieved a good result, on Sunday he repeated it although from the fifth position. He can know little, but Honda has maximized the characteristics of his motorcycle in this circuit and seem to move forward. Morbidelli, without reaching the podium on Sunday, has set a weekend consistent to be the best GP24.

As with Aprilia, in KTM the results are arriving with all the pilots and although Bastianini gave us the scare of the weekend with a fall in which (as possible) his motorcycle and he returned on track in one of the poorly designed girls on the Hungarian track, the orange motorcycles work. That is why Binder ended seventh and Pol Espargaró, again to a great level as a substitute for viñales, did so in the eighth position.

Pecco Bagnaia ended ninth, but, against all prognosis, he was satisfied with the sensations transmitted by the motorcycle. Hopefully that good feeling will continue in the next races and Pecco fight again for the head posts. Fabio Quartararo, penalized by Saturday’s action, was able to overcome to the tenth place, favored in part by the falls, but being, again and far, who more split the one that right now seems the worst motorcycle from the grill.

At the end of the weekend, the best part is that luck has been on the side of the pilots on a track that, beyond being more or less fun, having more or less overtaking points or narrow boxes has many points in terms of security to improve in the future, if that really matters …

And for dessert …

To end up speaking in a championship, it must be taken into account that Marc not only took his seventh consecutive double, which implies having dominated from Aragon (14 races in a row between Sprint and GP), is that he has a total of 10 doubles, 10 gp victories and 13 on Saturday. His worst results are those of the fall in Austin, where he left without points on Sunday, and Jerez, where he took four. Removing that, a second in the United Kingdom Sprint, a third in the GP and second place in the flood of Le Mans.

With all this, Marc already adds 455 points, 175 more than Álex and approaches the forced marches that could already win within two GP. To put in perspective the barbarity of the season that Márquez is carrying out, it has only let 63 points of the 518 that have been put into play. That means that in his locker there are already 455. In the whole season 2024 Jorge Martín to win the title he achieved 508 and Bagnaia was runner -up with 498 and both figures, to the rhythm that goes, could overcome them in Misano.
