More than a decade ago, Midual, the company created by Frenchman Olivier Midy, presented a new motorcycle mixing retro design philosophy with high technology. We are talking, of course, about the Type 1, of which it was initially announced that only 35 copies would be manufactured as a limited series. The price?… About 150,000 euros, a price that is unaffordable for most mortals.
The Type 1 reaches its third evolution
This same year we heard again about Midual and its Type 1, and we also did so in the form of a new and even more exclusive limited series of the model called Quintessence. If the standard version of this high-flying roadster is already truly exotic, the latest special edition from the French firm reaches unsuspected limits within the world of super-luxury.
Two pieces of information support this statement: On the one hand, the number of units offered by Midual of the Type 1 Quintessence (3), and on the other hand, the price to be paid for each of them… 300,000 euros. Maintaining the same technical architecture of the initial variant, the latest limited series of the Gauls includes, among others, a redesigned rear part, as well as a specific finish of its bodywork where the material and shapes stand out, along with an orange leather upholstery of its seat.
Now, as we have learned from the colleagues at Le Repaire des Motards, the so-called Series 3 of this Type 1 presents a remodeled front, as well as other finishing details that include hand-painted threading on the chassis or renewed footrests. Just as in previous versions, the brand offers us a wide portfolio of options with which to modify the motorcycle to taste.
From a two-seater variant, through various upholstery or color schemes loaded with exclusivity. What seems to have not changed is its mechanical part, where the 1,036 cc Boxer-type engine remains in force, equipped with distinctive technical elements such as a transverse crankshaft inclined at 25°. The brand currently declares a final power of 100 HP at 8,200 rpm and 102 Nm of maximum torque at 5,500 revolutions.
In the cycle part we find a top-level premium component where an aluminum monocoque chassis stands out, as well as Öhlins suspensions or a braking kit signed by Brembo. A truly suggestive compendium that pairs perfectly with the retro image of the motorcycle.
Of course, each of the 20 examples that will be manufactured of this Type 1 Series 3 will start from the 186,200 eurosa rate even more unattainable than that of the first series of the model… Things that bring with it the desired exclusivity.
