MotoGP A new era begins in 2027 and the dates for the first track action of the season can now be confirmed. As detailed by the World Cup organization “There are two pre-season tests before Rio de Janeiro hosts the season launch on February 21, then comes the first race weekend of the year with the Thai GP taking place in Buriram from March 5-7.”
The first steps of MotoGP 2027
The 2027 season will start with the well-known “Shakedown Test”designed for factory test riders and novices. This will take place in the Petronas Sepang International Circuit from January 29 to 30. This year, it is consecutive with the first official test of the season for all drivers, the Sepang Test, which will take place on January 31 and February 1. That’s two days per event by 2027.

The paddock will then head to Buriram in Thailand to compete in the second official two-day test, which will take place on February 6 and 7. Once finished MotoGP will move west for the season launch, as Brazil awaits the 2027 edition. Botafogo Beach in Rio de Janeiro provides an unrivaled backdrop for the flagship event, bringing MotoGP to the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the world on February 21.

The beginning of the new era starts in Valencia

The World Cup organizers explain: “Pre-season tests can also be confirmed for Moto2 and Moto3. For Moto2, there is a private practice session and an official practice session. For Moto3, there is an official practice session.”
In 2027, all training sessions will be held at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit for both categories, with the month of February being the time chosen for the first contact of the teams that will make up both grids.
