As happens in any of the circuits where Marc Márquez has dominated during his racing career, expectations before arriving at MotorLand Aragón were high. Even more so after the cold water at Silverstone and the problems that the Ducati rider seemed to have on his shoulder.
But it has been arriving to Teruel lands and we once again see a relentless Marc, who is another step closer to Jorge Martín who has managed to overcome a complicated weekend with flying colors and ahead of the rest of the grid. We begin the final stretch of the championship and the fight is destined to be anthological.
Bezzecchi was prepared to make the splash in the Sprint… But it couldn’t be
After a few GPs suffering, Marco Bezzecchi gave a warning to sailors in the classification, taking pole position and showing a lot of speed. But when the red light went out and despite starting well, the Noale driver was overtaken by a Marc who accelerated the braking and took the lead. That action cleared up all doubts, Márquez was willing to win.

And not only that, Álex Márquez also surpassed the Italian at the beginning, which was also the moment in which both Marco and Martín should have had an extra performance when choosing the soft tire. Of course, taking away the electrifying start, then Marc imposed his pace and even though it was slightly faster than Alex and Marco’s, it was enough to gradually leave them behind and without any fighting options.
Where there were more doubts at a given moment was in the third place occupant, because in the final stretch Pedro Acosta with a KTM with which he was able to defend himself better this weekend, finished close to Bezzecchi after having accounted for Jorge Martín who has not had the speed of his rivals this weekend but who has done what he had to do, leave the Aragon GP with the greatest number of points possible. Fermín Aldeguer, on his return, finished the Sprint sixth, with Moreira seventh, Fernández eighth and Johann Zarco, who returned after the serious accident at the Catalan GP ninth.

After Marc’s initial move on Saturday, the question for Sunday was whether he could repeat it and whether Bezzecchi could prevent it. The doubt was quickly resolved because Marc made the same move again, but Marco was less conservative and although the Ducati rider ended up passing, he had to risk something more. The final result was the same as Saturday but at the same time different and that shortly after the rear height device was activated on Marc’s bike and he not only lost position with Bezzecchi but also with Martín and, in addition, the peloton became quite compacted.
Fortunately, everything ended in a small scare that, yes, gave wings to a solid and effective Bezzecchi who seems to have left behind the ghosts prior to the summer break. In any case, with the Aprilia rider in front and after a spectacular overtake by Marc on Martín that Acosta also took advantage of to “sneak in,” Márquez began the race against the clock.
And, as we say, Bezzecchi has been very solid and fast in MotorLand without making mistakes and that is what made him a tough rival to crack. Even so, Marc caught up with him on lap seven and, after attempting the same overtake as Martín, ended up braking at the end of the counter-goal straight after hundreds of meters in parallel at full throttle. Even so, the one who was most skilled of all was once again Acosta who took the opportunity to also pass Bezzecchi and thus follow in the wake of who will be his teammate in 2026.

In fact, if any other driver truly threatened Marc’s victory on Sunday it was, without a doubt, Pedro Acosta. The KTM from Murcia seems to have done well by opening the engine and although it was seen that it lost in acceleration compared to the Ducati and the Aprilia, it is a bike to fight with, at least in Pedro’s hands. Because that is the big doubt that the Aragon GP leaves. Could it be that there are riders who are not fast enough and it is not a question of the bike?
In the end that question is always difficult to answer but seeing how Acosta, and although he couldn’t achieve it, fought for the victory and finished second behind Marc and ahead of Bezzecchi and his almighty RS-GP while Bastianini finished ninth, almost 24 seconds behind Acosta and Binder tenth, almost 25 seconds behind his brand mate. Too much difference, too much.
But returning to the race classification, Álex Márquez could not repeat Saturday’s podium. Although he was hampered at the beginning by Marc’s problem, once he reached fourth place he could not continue progressing. Fifth, again, Martín who has not shone this weekend and has still scored more points than his rivals when they have had a bad weekend.
Aldeguer, shining again and as the third best Ducati, finished sixth ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio who is still not showing his best version. As we said, Bastianini was eighth and Binder ninth with a Diogo Moreira that was the best Honda and that leaves us in the air with the same question as with the KTM riders, especially when Zarco, after six GPs away, has been consistent all weekend and if it were not for the double “long-lap” penalty he would have finished numbers in hand, as the best Honda not only ahead of Moreira who is doing well in his debut year but also Mir and Marini.

That feeling is also similar with the Yamaha where only Razgatlioglu, who crashed, will continue, but where Miller, now without a contract, has had one of his best weekends of the year fighting with Rins while Quartararo has spent without pain or glory thinking more about what will happen after the Valencia GP than competing in the Aragon GP. We will see what happens in Misano in two weekends.
