MV Agusta will premiere at the 81st edition of the Venice International Film Festivalon August 31, with the short film “Beauty Is Not A Sin” (Beauty is not a sin), directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. With the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro in the lead role, the film attempts to convey how temptation comes in many shapes and sizes, and giving in to it often makes us yearn for forgiveness and absolution.
However, its creators add that giving in to desire is not necessarily immoral. Sometimes, it simply expresses our attraction to beauty. And beauty is not a sin. With his inimitable style, Nicolas Winding Refn takes us on a ride.
“Beauty Is Not A Sin”: 8 minutes of beauty and passion
The Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro, which thanks to its meticulous craftsmanship, bold and provocative design, stunning beauty and thrilling performance is a motorcycle that ignites the deepest desires of every motorcyclist, served as inspiration for this work of cinematic art.
Limited to 500 numbered units, this bike encapsulates MV Agusta’s unrivalled racing history, its obsession with aesthetics and its constant drive towards technological evolution. Meticulous attention to every detail ensures perfect harmony between form, material and performance.
In “Beauty Is Not A Sin”, Nicolas Winding Refn attempts to praise the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro through apt iconography. Refn himself comments that: “When you work with luxury, there is a feeling of having to use the iconography of the object itself. Although, for me, it was not so much the bike that interested me, but what the bike made me feel.”
Concludes: “While the iconography of the motorcycle in general is very beautiful, like a work of art, it is the way to encapsulate that feeling throughout the entire film.”
