NAD presents his new bags for the BMW R 1300 RT and R 1300 RS

The relationship between BMW Motorrad and NAD (Business Group of which Shad is part) began more than 25 years ago. The first project was the elaboration of the suitcases and the seats for the BMW R1200 C. In the following years, many of the suitcases and seats for the most emblematic motorcycles of the Bavara firm have been developed.

To date, more than one million suitcases and seats have been manufactured for more than 20 different BMW motorcycle models. Models such as the GS 700/800/750/850/1150/1250, the Ninenet family, the R850R or the K1600 predecessors, have been equipped with suitcases and/or seats developed and manufactured in the Mollet del Valleles facilities (Barcelona).

New NAD suitcases for BMW in detail

The new suitcases produced by NAD for the German brand have had to overcome more than 30 quality tests: long -term tests, staging test with the motorcycle in the wind tunnel receiving water from different angles, UV test, vibration test, electrical component test, and a long etcetera until reaching the homologation.

In total, they have been more than two years of work, from the first BMW design concept to the start of serial production. NAD has developed complete equipment for R 1300 RT, with two expandable side suitcases and a top suitcase with capacity for two helmets.

The suitcases incorporate a variable expansion system, which allows to modify the load capacity of the suitcase, adapting it exactly to the user’s needs. The variable expansion is achieved through a toothed strap, which transmits the expansibility force to the entire frame.

The suitcases of the R 1300 RT and the R 1300 RS have as a common denominator a Keyless technologybased on the sending of energy through a floating magnetic connector developed by BMW and adapted jointly to the needs of the project. This connection between the motorcycle and the suitcase allows, through an engine and an electronic actuator, the opening and the centralized closure, as well as ensure the anchor of the suitcase on the motorcycle and the activation of an internal light.

In the top case of the RT and a side suitcase of the RS, a USB current is also included. For the RS model, a model with a much more sporty concept, two non -expandable side bags have been developed (26 and 29 liters of capacity). The new R 1300 RT is also presented in a police version, which includes two suitcases and a trunk designed specifically for models for public order forces.
