The one known as “AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series”was an exciting one-make cup created jointly by AMA Pro Racing and Vance & Hines in 2010. A five-race championship where owners, official dealers and fans in general had the possibility of becoming part of the American competition. The only thing necessary to be able to participate was to acquire the special kit supplied by the Yankee trainer, with an estimated cost of $3,500.

The XR1200 has proven to be an exciting platform for spec racing in Europe and this class will be a perfect and profitable platform to showcase new talent on a national level.”
Other curious aspects of this competition around the Sunoco 260 GTX. The organization allowed each team to choose its own suspension system, levers, footpegs, braking equipment or dashboard.
At that time, as reported by RW Motorcycle, the director of operations of AMA Pro Racing, David Atlasexplained about the event: “Adding an extra element to our events with a series of this caliber will be a huge benefit to our sport. The specification of the XR1200 package will prioritize driver skill and offer a great new class of racing with links to the past.”
