It has been exactly a decade since we first talked to you about the NMax 155, a model that initially arrived to position itself in the Asian market as an efficient alternative at a low price. Now Yamaha launches its 2026 variant, the NMax 155 Tech Maxequipped with a wide technological compendium, which includes new and exclusive technology YECVT (Yamaha’s continuously variable electric transmission), already released last season in the Turbo version of the model.
Yamaha NMax 155 Tech Max 2026 in detail
The new NMax 155 Tech Max is presented to the European public equipped with a 155 cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC and 4 overhead valve engine. As the main novelty, it uses the new “Yamaha Continuously Variable Electric Transmission” (YECVT) which, according to the Japanese firm itself, “allows you to select “Sport” or “Town” engine performance modes.
This system instantly provides stronger acceleration, as well as greater engine braking capacity. This translates in turn to better riding sensations where the pilot enjoys superior control and “the sportiest feeling of a motorcycle with gears”according to Yamaha’s description.
In this way, going in Sport mode, we will have greater engine braking than if we do it in City mode, especially at average speeds between 60 and 30 km/h. Both are selectable from the switch located on the left control panel, maintaining the last mode used every time we start the motorcycle.
For the cycle part, Yamaha uses a suspension system composed of a front hydraulic fork and a pair of independently adjustable lateral shock absorbers. Braking relies on a disc on each axle, with the set anchored to two 13” wheels and these are shod with tires measuring 110/70 at the front and 130/70 at the rear.
In terms of equipment, the 4.2-inch full-color TFT panel with Garmin navigation included, plus a second LCD screen installed above it, stands out. Other elements that make up the standard equipment of the model are, for example, Full LED lighting, a double seat with special black imitation leather upholstery and gold stitching or the possibility of choosing between two different color options:
- Crystal Graphite
- Midnight Black
In addition, the brand offers us the possibility of equipping our NMax 155 Tech Max thanks to a wide range of accessories in which we can find from a 34 L top trunk, through various front screen models or a custom-made leg cover specific for this model. All this for an official price that starts from 4,399 eurosaccording to the German media Motorrad Online.
