Lately, Polaris has registered some patents related to new technical, truly interesting displays. Proof of this is the latter in which they offer us a technical vision of how an adjustable damping system should work from the steering wheel itself. In addition, according to the detailed attached to the text of the patent itself, this electronic gadget could be controlled even with the vehicle underway.
Polaris adjustable damping system in detail
Recently, the American firm announced, in the form of a patent, an autonomous system that allows a UTV to park from outside the cabin and, in addition, load it safely on the rear of a truck or a trailer. Now Polaris Industries Inc. goes one step further with this adjustable damping system from the steering wheel itself.
According to the patent description, published by Ride Apart’s teammates: “This dissemination refers to an improved suspension for a vehicle and, in particular, to damping and/or bouncing control methods for shock absorbers. Currently, some off -road vehicles include adjustable amortide.”
“These adjustments include the preload of the spring, the compression cushion at high speed and/or the bouncing damping. To make these adjustments, the vehicle stops and the operator makes an adjustment in each location of the shock absorber. A tool for adjustment is often required.”
Concludes: “Some road cars also include adjustable electric shock absorbers together with sensors for active suspension control systems. The system of this dissemination allows the operator to make real -time adjustments to the shock absorbers on the march to obtain the most comfortable driving under certain conditions of land and payload.”
At the moment, this adjustable damping system of Polaris, operable from the steering wheel of the vehicle in question, has not been confirmed by the brand itself as a novelty for new models or review of the current ones. Nor do we know if an invention of this type would be viable in the range of motorcycles that currently markets Indian, a subsidiary of the wide Yankee business group.
Perhaps in the face of the last bars of this year, the brand surprises us with some type of futuristic concept in one of the famous engine rooms that are held in various parts of the world. EICMA 2025 would be a good place for it, although all this are, for now, only mere assumptions. We will be attentive to future updates on the subject.
