R1 engine, 180 HP and pass to see San Pedro

Golf is a sport that allows you to relax from your daily life, de-stress and focus on the ball and the way you take it to the hole you play. Then, after the hit, you walk until you reach it and continue. However, at the time someone decided that walking and carrying clubs was not their thing, and since caddies were expensive, the golf cart was the perfect solution.

It was the perfect solution because it was slow, comfortable and safe, plus it was electric and made no noise. Well, the friends of Grind Hard Plumbing Co, who you will remember from their off-road motorcycle, decided that this base was good to be able to build a buggy and put a powerful, very powerful engine in it. The one chosen to end the peace of the golf cart was the engine of a Yamaha R1 with its 180 HP, so, from the outset, the silence was going to end.

But of course, the issue of noise in the end is what you should least worry about when you decide to put a superbike engine in a golf cart. So the work behind the transformation is tremendously complex. We are talking about a tubular chassis, seats, belts, steering, suspensions, brakes…

The golf cart converted into a buggy is a challenge to common sense…

In the end, more than a golf cart, what they have ended up creating has been an infernal buggie with the shell of the ill-fated cart, but with such obvious deficiencies in terms of safety that what surprises us is that someone has dared to get on it.

If already having almost 200 HP under your ass for a thing like this is something that would make more than one person think, not taking into account that this type of vehicle needs brakes on all four wheels, and opting only to have the rear ones brake greatly complicates the stuff. It makes driving it more complicated and, of course, dangerous.

But what is life without risk? That’s what they must have thought, because as you can see in the video they dedicated themselves to jumping, avoiding trees and doing all kinds of tricks. That is why it is not surprising that in the end the accident occurred although, luckily, the appointment with San Pedro was not for that day. And when it doesn’t play, it doesn’t play even if you put on…
