sales grow while falling in Europe

The evolution of the chinese motorcycles It is a popular cry that no one can stop. You may like them to a greater or lesser extent, be more or less suspicious of their commercial policies. And even question fundamental aspects of its development, such as the quality of the materials used in manufacturing, the warranty coverage of the brands or the after-sales service offered by the latter. All because you heard your brother-in-law say it…

But the reality, with the numbers on the table, is that they are advancing by leaps and bounds in all aspects, with many of their models also being the wet dream of a good part of the fans. And it is at this point where the numbers come in, those that are not debatable regardless of one’s opinion. Because one thing is clear; Chinese motorcycles are here to stay, and most likely, to take over most of the market in the medium and long term.

Chinese motorcycle registration grows every year

One of the latest reports related to the number of motorcycles registered in Europe, leaves us with some truly interesting data. Although the global calculation of the 5 powers where the most new motorcycles are sold, Italy, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Spainhas fallen in percentage terms (7.2% in its entirety), our country is the only one where the trend has gone against the current.

He 11.1% year-on-year increaseas of last September, compared to the same period in 2024, leaves no room for doubt. With 183,014 units registered In Spain, it is the only market of the five to register growth. However, Italy (-1.1%), the United Kingdom (-4%), France (-12.4%) and Germany (-24.4%) have not followed this trend.

That said, there is no doubt that Chinese motorcycles are a positive part of this equation, since in our country some of the most relevant brands of the moment are within the ranking of the 10 best sellers. Furthermore, they no longer occupy positions of honor only in the low displacement segments. For some time now they have also positioned themselves at the top of the table in relevant categories; adventure and sports frames of medium-high displacement are among them.

The latest data published by ANESDOR they leave no room for doubt. Voge, for example, managed to gain 8% of the market share, being the fourth best-selling brand in our country. Something similar happens with QJMotor, which continues to establish itself among fans thanks to taking over 3.2% of new motorcycle registrations within this same period. Models such as the ATR 125 and MTX 125 are among the 50 best-selling motorcycles in Spain.

But Chinese brands are not only satisfied with becoming strong within the two-wheeled sector. They also do the same thing that includes ATV/UTV/SSV. Here CFMoto leads the market with an iron fist with 20.5% of total sales. As pointed out by a local Chinese media:

“The CFORCE E 520, the CF625-6, the CF500-2, the CFORCE 1000 and the UFORCE 1000, entered the ranking of the 50 best, which highlights the growing penetration of the brand in the market and its recognition by consumers.” Having said all this, it is evident the hierarchical level that Chinese motorcycles are managing to reach in general terms.

Nothing strange, on the other hand, if we see their evolution in the last 5 years, but above all what they have prepared for us for the coming seasons. The commercial paradigm shift is already a fact. Now it is only necessary to determine whether the rest of the reference brands (Japanese, European and American) will be able to withstand the challenge by devising formulas with which to be, equally or more competitive, than their Chinese rivals.
