This Honda CBR600RR is so brutal that the preparation costs more than the bike itself

The return of the CBR600RR to the Honda catalog marked the return of a myth, which for a long time was the queen of the Supersport category. But that return had in mind not only getting the bike back for the street, but also thinking about returning to top competition and also to the circuits.

In this sense, the CBR600RR that Honda Racing UK has presented perfectly fulfills the purpose of being able to fly on the track. Starting from the standard base of the stock CBR600RR, the competition department will begin to work its magic by adding top-level components and preparations. So much so that the preparation exceeds the original sale price of the motorcycle.

The footrests are another of the changes that arrive

What’s behind the preparation of the Honda Racing UK CBR600RR?

Well, there are actually two phases. The first costs 11,000 pounds (12,509 euros), just one pound more than the standard motorcycle costs in the United Kingdom. This first phase includes Carbonin Avio Fiber racing fibers, a special radiator, footpegs and an Evotech Performance lever protector.

Although the “big part” comes in the work on the engine, since the head gasket is changed for a thinner one of 0.55 mm, which increases the compression ratio from 12.2:1 to 12.4:1 in addition to mounting competition spark plugs. There are also changes to the clutch, where the springs are changed to reinforced ones, in addition to the racing electrical installation and an ECU that raises the rev limit to 16,500, that is, 1,000 rpm more.

Now, if this is not enough, instead of the 11,000 pounds there is the 18,000 (20,469 euros) package that takes the CBR600RR to the next level. In addition to all of the above, the complete Akrapovic exhaust system is included which replaces the entire standard system, including catalysts. Likewise, it includes GB Racing engine covers, metal hoses, conversion to 520 competition chain and sprockets, suspension changes with an improved rear shock absorber and Showa factory internal components to improve performance.

To this we must add the replica paint finish, which gives a “Factory” touch to the CBR600RR. We are talking, yes, about a preparation that is not especially cheap, but that at its maximum makes the motorcycle one of the most incredible that you can see in some sessions and, also, a motorcycle with which to enter initiation competitions. And a 100% racing motorcycle takes even more work…
