On June 27 and 28 of this year a new edition of the CROM RIDE took place, the tourist motorcycle test that aims to enjoy the roads and the enormous variety of landscapes of the province of Girona to fans of all ages, driving levels, and type of motorcycles.
650 participants They decided to take part in a circular route for which many stretching, mythical roads were chosen. As always, the test has had the invaluable collaboration of the Costa Brava-Pirineo Tourism Board of Girona, so that the fun fun, with sections full of curves and never amoded.
That is why six strategically distributed control points have been located to enjoy such different landscapes between them as the Gerondense capital, the mountains that separate it from the coast, the views of the cliffs of the Costa Brava from Tossa … or the wonderful tin of Banyoles next to the volcanic lands of La Garrotxa.
Also hidden secrets how Beet, the high Pyrenean mountains, the Ripollès, a getaway to the Berguedà and the Lluçanès, before returning through Osona towards L’Equirol and the Vall d’en Bas, the Vall de Flamena, and return to Girona … 550 km of wonderful sections with surprising landscapes and full of contrasts.
Crom Ride 2025: event summary
On Friday, the Village was opened at 3:00 p.m., as in each edition, in the Fontajau pavilion, and from then on the participants could collect the dorsal and their welcome pack. The bar service was an oasis in which to take refuge from the intense heat that reigned throughout the day … and the one that would fall the next day, throughout the route. But the friends and friends “chromers” are brave, and the heat became just one more anecdote, a little extra epic to add to the demanding route that expected them the next day!
From 7 pm on Saturday the first participants began arriving, since the departure was given from 7:30 a.m. by order of dorsal. Breakfast to gain strength, a couple of minutes of tail, smile in the photocall and … to take the exit! Ahead would have 550 km that began fleeing from the capital with direction in vidreres, but crossing a short and beautiful section that turned out to be a great unknown to many of the participants: more Lluners.
The coast was reached by Lloret, Tossa de Mar, the wonderful GIV-682 (Tossa-Sant Feliu de Guíxols), and climbed on the highway of Sant Grau D’Ardenya, where the first sealing control was located, which opened at 8:45 and closed at 10:55 h. Upon arriving in Vidreres it was still in the direction of Romanyà, the coll of the Ganga and Madremanya (three emblematic sections for motor lovers), and then a little rest arrived until entering the Pla de L’Estany and reaching the CP2, on the edge of the Saby de Banyoles, in the Tourism Office of Banyoles himself.
A control that opened between 10:05 and 12:45 h, and that offered wonderful views of L’Estany and a good place to make a first stop where to cool a bit. There was even who bathed. Taking up the march by Sant Miquel de Campmajor to Santa Pau, with an direction in Olot, they enjoyed roads from the volcanic lands, with beautiful views of their forests on both sides.
And after crossing the capital of La Garrotxa, the route continued in the direction of Castellfollit de la Roca. When it goes down it is worth turning their heads and contemplating the town hanging from a basaltic wall, before entering the demanding road that makes us pass through Oix, Beet and Rocabruna: an almost infinite succession of slow curves with a beautiful green and some precious Romanesque peoples to discover.
The descent to Ripoll then takes us to Setcases and continues to climb to the wonderful views of the level 2,150 of the Vallter 2000 ski resort, where the CP3 would be open between 11:40 and 15:20 h. Good time to seal and eat at the restaurant of the station, or in the Food Truck that was next to the control point itself, enjoying the views and fresh air of the high mountain.
In addition, there Shoei installed a stand with helmet screens cleaning service, so that while the participants enjoyed the views of the Pyrenees of Girona and the soft temperature that reigned at the top, they were made an essential cleaning of the accumulated mosquitoes during the first half of the route.
Rally lovers for lovers
The descent took Sant Joan de les Abadesses, from where the mythical Collada de Santigosa is taken to the Ripollès Vallfogona road, a pleasure for the senses. From Ripoll, the C-26, known as the Les Llosses road, with excellent asphalt and thousands of curves in a row, it would take them to the town of Borredà, in the Berguedà region (the only control point of the chrom Ride 2025 in the province of Barcelona), where the CP4 was located between 12:55 and 6:25 p.m.
The heat was intense, but the curves of Ans and the Lluçanès led to the area of L’Iquirol, where the twisted Rupit road suddenly changed the atmosphere and vegetation style from Coll de Condreu. More emblematic roads for rallys lovers! The arrival in Sant Esteve d’en mosted in the CP5, located in Can Trona, the Turisme de la Vall d’en office, with its emblematic building.
The control was open between 15 and 8:15 p.m., and from here the participants of the Chrom Ride had a last section of about 50 km crossing the Vall de Cabero until I went back to Girona through Sant Gregori. The arrival in Fontajau, CP6 (and final), opened at 15:40 and officially closed at 9:30 p.m. Each of the participants finished the route at their own pace, planning their stops so as not to waste too much time, and to always go conveniently hydrated.
To end a fantastic weekend, all the finishers, pilots and companions, received a well -deserved gift: a practical buff (the real one, the original!) Of Crom Ride: later, a good dinner and to cool off in the restoration zone that prepared to recover strength inside the Village, before taking the way home or the hotel thinking about the next 2026 edition.
Girona Motorfest: The added surprise
The chrom ride always incorporates news. This year, the most popular has been the arrival of a new event, Girona Motorfest, which in this first edition has shared space with the exit of the chrom ride and that aims to consolidate over the next few years as the great party of the two wheels of the province of Girona. Exhibition of new motorcycles, accessories, spare parts, occasion motorcycles and, above all, motorcycles to be able to try and enjoy in a controlled and safe environment.
