The 60,000-pound handmade motorcycle can end up in your garage for just over 10 euros

Lyndon Poskitt once again shakes up the adventurous universe with a gesture that mixes nostalgia, artisanal engineering and a good dose of passion for extreme travel.

On the occasion of the launch of his new book, “Races to Places – The Ultimate Overland Story”, the award-winning British rider and creator has decided to put into play a very special piece of his career: the first rally-adventure motorcycle that he built with his own hands.

And it does so, furthermore, with an unexpected wink: anyone can participate in the raffle for just 10 pounds (11.31 euros at the current exchange rate).

As we are telling you, what is at stake is not just any motorcycle, but the LPR 732 Factory Adventure Bikethe prototype that served as the basis for the legendary Basil Bike.

That mount, named in honor of the pilot’s grandfather, and which accompanied Poskitt during an unrepeatable journey: 146,000 miles, 74 countries, all continents and more than a dozen competitions, and also while recording the more than 200 episodes of his series “Races to Places”.

The germ of this machine dates back to 2013, when Poskitt started from a KTM 690 Factory Rallya much more exclusive base than the known 690 Enduro. With it he competed in the Merzouga Rally and various short tests that served to refine the project before embarking on his trip around the world.

This is the motorcycle that Lyndon Poskitt is going to raffle

Over the years, that prototype has been disassembled, rebuilt and perfected until it adopted the final specifications that characterized the Basil Bike: engine LPR 732 cc, profound improvements in the power system, structural modifications to the chassis, long-travel suspension adjustments and a long list of solutions designed to withstand thousands of km.

In total, Poskitt manufactured 34 units of these handcrafted motorcycles, highly sought-after pieces that have sold between 30,000 pounds (34,000 euros) and 60,000 pounds (68,000 euros) depending on the configuration.

He also developed variants of his engine LPR 732cc LC4 Adventure/Racing, aimed at customers looking for a much higher level of performance and reliability.

However, that stage is now part of the past: the Briton closed his motorcycle construction project and, therefore, the opportunity to get a LPR original is increasingly remote. Hence this giveaway has a special flavor.

The unit offered has been thoroughly restored, both mechanically and in overall presentation. It debuts a Nardo gray decoration with commemorative details linked to the launch of the book, a visual nod that connects the machine with the story that inspired it: seven years of journeys, challenges and experiences spread throughout the planet.

As we will never tire of pointing out, tickets to enter the raffle cost 10 pounds and the winner will be announced during the official book presentation event, scheduled for December 1, 2025.

A date marked in red by the pilot’s followers, who see in this contest a unique opportunity to get a motorcycle that, more than a vehicle, is a living piece of recent history.

For those who are not familiar with the sporting career of Lyndon Poskittit is worth remembering that we are not talking about a simple tireless traveler. He is also an award-winning driver, capable of finishing the Dakar on three occasions, including a memorable participation in the Malle Moto category, where competitors face the race alone, without assistance and with minimal resources.

In 2018 he achieved no less than second place in that classification, an achievement reserved only for those who combine talent, training and outstanding mental resistance.

His resume includes other legendary races due to their toughness, such as the Red Bull Romaniacs, the Africa Eco Race, the Baja Rally, the Finke Desert Race or the Mongolian Rally. A trajectory that explains why their motorcycles, designed to survive any abuse, arouse so much admiration among long-distance travelers and rally-raid lovers.

This giveaway is not just a promotional campaign. It is, in reality, an invitation to be part of a very intimate chapter of the career of Poskitt. The possibility of taking home the motorcycle that opened the door to adventure.

And, once again…, for only 10 pounds (11 euros more or less), this contest is one of the most tempting opportunities that an off-road lover can find on the internet. That without a doubt.
