In the lives of drivers there is a moment when it is decided to put an end to their sporting career, and in the case of Massimo Roccoli that moment has arrived now. The one who seemed incombustible Italian driver, has decided to retire shortly after turning 40 years old. An age that is not bad at all, considering that this implies more than 3 decades of competition.
Perhaps Massimo Roccoli is not an extremely well-known rider outside of Italy, but at an international level he has competed in the World Superbike, SSP, Moto2, MotoE and FIM Endurance, achieving significant results in Supersport, where he achieved a victory and three points. MotoE, precisely, has been his last great adventure, since he was participating in the 2024 season where he finished thirteenth with 88 points.
But where Roccoli has been outstanding and a true legend has been in the CIV. The Italian Speed Championship has seen him fight with different drivers, at first older than him, and later young promises who climbed the stages. Even so, he spent almost two decades at the highest level in the national team, and all this despite the injuries and problems he has faced.
Roccoli is an institution of Italian speed
His legacy is not within the reach of everyone, since in this time he has managed to win the Supersport title on six occasions: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2015, 2016 and 2018, one more feat if possible the years in which he was combining the World Supersport with the Italian championship.
Behind him are 70 podiums, 29 victories and 17 pole positions for a Roccoli who has put an end to his driving career, but who does not separate himself from racing. Together with another illustrious World Cup driver, Álex De Angelis from San Marino, he is Team Manager of the Rock&Dea team that is looking for new talents.
