The striking and technological BMW Motorrad Vision K18presented to the public for the first time in the exclusive framework of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, on Lake Como, has been seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026. In addition, it has delighted us with the shocking and deafening sound that comes from its approximately 1,800 cc in-line six-cylinder engine. If you don’t believe me, take a look at this publication from the brand itself
Vision K18: “sounding like a military plane taking off”
It is not a cliché at all. The 130 decibels emitted, and measured in situ, by the Vision K18 engine are more or less the same as those emitted by a military aircraft taking off about 50 meters away. A true outrage taking into account the figures currently approved by almost any street model. The current regulations on noise and pollution are, to put it mildly, not very permissive.
In any case, returning to the Vision K18 and its time at the legendary event in West Sussex, England, as the brand itself has described it: “Impossible to miss, the BMW Motorrad Vision K18 brought its own kind of presence to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The sound, the details, the reactions. Seeing so many of you stop, take a closer look and share the emotion that made this one memorable. Thank you, Goodwood. We loved every moment.”
For your part Markus Flaschcurrent CEO of the company, is clear when asked about the topic: “The unmistakable roar of the K18 Vision echoed through Goodwood, turning every head on the legendary Hillclimb at the Festival of Speed. Proof that passion has a sound.” After the exhibition in such a mythical place for motor lovers, many fans are wondering what the next step will be regarding this striking concept.
What we can expect in a future street model
Although the Vision K18, for now, is nothing more than a spectacular prototype, everything suggests that sooner rather than later the German brand will offer us a final version of the model ready to be registered. It will most certainly not emit 130 decibels of sound, although we assume that this aspect will be one of the most characteristic of its mechanical configuration.
Its 1,800 cc inline 6-cylinder engine is most likely the main element on which the rest of the components selected to give life to this new platform will be built. At the time of its official presentation, BMW explained that this mechanical configuration has become a traditional symbol of smoothness, authority and touring ability.

As a result of this choice we find a motorcycle with a striking silhouette and at the same time extremely elongated, directly inspired by the world of aeronautics. In it, aluminum and forged carbon are responsible for generating a truly fascinating visual impression. Perhaps it is the tail section, framed in carbon and with six exhaust outlets, that is the most distinctive part of the bike.
In any case, who better than Flasch himself to describe the brand’s latest creature: “With the BMW Motorrad Vision K18, we demonstrate how we interpret performance, luxury and emotion in a new and very confident way. For us, the inline six-cylinder engine is much more than an engine: it is a statement of intent. This bike represents our passion for constantly redefining the boundaries of design and performance.”
