Valentin Debise won both races in Portugal at the end of March and then won again in Hungary. With these victories, in a matter of a few weeks, ZXMoto has gone from being unknown to beginning to appear as a regular candidate with established brands, something that is still surprising for a brand that has recently arrived, not only in Europe, but is also being born.
Now the step that ZXMoto takes is focused on the field with the new MX250, a motorcycle that on paper enters directly into the most competitive segment of offroad: motocross.
In the same way they have done with the 802RR-R, they have opted for a common technical base and without trying strange inventions. They have opted for a tubular steel chassis, something very similar to the concept that we see in different brands, fully adjustable KYB suspensions, 260 mm front disc with double-piston caliper, single-piston rear with floating disc and figures quite similar to those of very consolidated references within the category despite the opacity in that sense. The brand also declares a weight that is practically identical to that of segment leaders such as the CRF250R, which it is close to at other levels.
The price of the ZXMoto MX250 is expected to be really competitive
Also, and it is no small thing, the price with which it has been presented in China is striking. There it starts at the equivalent of about 3,760 euros, although evidently in a more than hypothetical arrival in Europe the final price would rise by adding taxes, distributor margins, approvals, transportation…
Even so, it is more than evident that ZXMoto does not only think about the Asian market and does think about accelerating the pace of implementation in Europe, also in Spain, building the brand from the beginning.
In fact, seeing how they are using the competition to make themselves known, it seems quite evident that the intention is to build a European-style global image. A policy, by the way, that Kove already achieved in part thanks to the Dakar and that is that its creator, Zhang Xue, was the CEO behind the success of precisely the other Chinese brand.
Obviously it remains to be seen how this MX250 really works when it starts to face much more established motorcycles in the offroad world. At the end of the day, they are starting on a path that the rest of the brands have already been traveling for some time and reaching them can be difficult. But, of course, that also seemed difficult in WSSP and they have become protagonists.
What is certain is that ZXMoto has managed in one year for Europeans to start putting it on the map, and that is not easy…
