In most current models we see the same situation, their respective manufacturers consider whether to convert them into electric ones to adapt to the times. We have seen transformations as controversial as that of the Renault Megane, while others directly disappear to give way to fully electrified replacements with another name. It is now confirmed that the Electric Dacia Sandero will arrive in 2027 and raises certain doubts. Will it continue to be the best-selling vehicle after the changes?
The Sandero is in a sweet moment. He stood at the top of the European sales charts (including the Spanish one) in 2024 and carries a formula that has led it to success. This model has opted for simplicity and a contained price. We all know that it is not the most technological or most advanced car, but there are few who can give so much for what it costs. However, the Romanian firm is not satisfied and also wants to have an electric version in the range to be prepared for what is to come.
Many might think that taking out an electric Sandero is shooting yourself in the foot. Dacia is already positioned in that segment to the Spring, an electric access that is one of the most affordable on the market and works very well in urban environments. However, this is something different as it is an additional variant for the range. It does not mean the end of the combustion Sandero, the electric one will coexist with the gasoline and hybrid ones. In fact, it will sit on the same CMF-B platform that has brought so much joy to the brand.
That technical base still has potential and it could make the electric Dacia Sandero share some components with the Renault 4 and 5. Of course, they are clear that their approach will not be anything groundbreaking. It will be an electric accessible by pricean intrinsic philosophy in the model. You cannot expect long ranges or ultra-fast charges. He wants to democratize technology and complete Spring, which could stay just outside the city.
The launch year seems to be 2027 and we will have to wait to know more data. It seems certain that it will be somewhat more expensive than the 13,940 euros that the most basic combustion engine costs and will also be above the 17,890 euros that the Spring costs.
