FIM Intercontinental Games 2026 in detail
This means that for the 2026 FIM Intercontinental Games, which will be held in the central state of Goiàs, for the first time the title will be decided on both an asphalt circuit and an off-road track. The 2024 winners, FIM Europe, will defend their title against stiff competition from the other CONUs in Africa, Asia, Latin America, North America and Oceania.
Each CONU will have the representation of four pilots in the three categories. In addition, it can include a “specialist” driver with a permanent place in an FIM World Championship during 2026. It is an essential requirement to have a minimum of one female driver per category who can also be a permanent FIM World Championship driver this season.
All other selected drivers must be considered “emerging talents” and cannot have participated in any FIM World Championships this season as a permanent driver. With twenty-four drivers per category, a total of seventy-two competitors from twenty-five nations, with an increase of six participating countries compared to the inaugural event, these 2026 FIM Intercontinental Games will compete.
The motorcycles that competitors will ride in both disciplines will be provided by Yamaha with a fleet of YZF-R3 and YZF-R models7 available, while Motocross competitors will race on locally supplied motorcycles, according to the make and model requested by each rider, and that comply with FIM regulations.
On the opening day of the 2026 FIM Intercontinental Games (Friday, December 11), the SSP and SSP300 teams will participate in a non-timing test practice followed by FP1 and FP2. The MX2 teams will be on track for free practice and FP1. The following morning, the SSP and SSP300 teams will take part in Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2, while the MX2 teams will be on track for FP2 and a Timed Practice before the first scoring races in the three categories take place in the afternoon.

On the final day (Sunday, December 13), teams from all three categories will take part in a short warm-up before lining up for Race Two and, for MX2 alone, a third final race. The president of the FIM, Jorge Viegaswho first conceived of the Intercontinental Games in 2002, said:
