The Jerez Circuit turns 40 and will bring together Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Crivillé, Alonso and Aspar in a unique night

The Jerez Circuit is the first of the “new circuits” that arrived in Spain, and that began to shape the wide offer that we have in the country today. Until then, Jarama and Calafat were the options, but the Jerez layout was modern, different, done in a grand style and was inaugurated in international competition on April 13, 1986.

Although the debut of the competitions dates back to a few months ago, December 1985, in either case we are facing the fortieth anniversary, and this is what will be commemorated on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Villamarta Theater in Jerez. The event will also serve as an institutional finishing touch to the events marking the 40th anniversary of the Andalusian route, bringing together many of the figures who have marked its history on the same day.

It will be a very special event, because prominent representatives from the world of motors and, especially, from the world of two wheels will attend, as well as institutional representatives and different figures who are linked to the Andalusian track.

Among the already confirmed attendees are Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Álex Crivillé, Sito Pons, Jorge Martínez “Aspar” and Ángel Nieto’s children. And all of them will also collect an award as holders of a curve on one of the most special routes that still exists even forty years later.

The fortieth anniversary gala of the Jerez Circuit – Ángel Nieto will award many motorsport “greats”

And the Jerez – Ángel Nieto Circuit, which is the official name of the track since the disappearance of the 12+1, is not only full every GP weekend. Riding on that asphalt and facing the curves is quite a challenge. Precisely in addition to those already mentioned above, Carmelo Ezpeleta, Ayrton Senna, whose award will be collected by his technician Jo Ramírez, Ferrari and Peluqui, will also receive recognition for their curves in Jerez, in this case it will be his son who will collect it. That is one of the most beautiful details of the circuit, that next to the Nieto curve, the most successful Spanish speed driver, is that of a Peluqui who was a local idol and who shines alongside the greatest.

In addition to them, other motorcycle and motor greats such as Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz, Luis Pérez Sala, Carlos Checa, José Antonio Rueda and Marcos Ramírez will also be awarded. Also important for the development of the activity, different members of the circuit staff such as Pablo Fernández, María Escribano, Alfredo Franco and historical directors of the circuit will receive awards.

Riding through the 13 curves of the Cádiz circuit is always special

To top it off, different media, organizations such as federations and institutions and politicians will also have their recognition in promoting the Jerez Circuit. Beyond the proper names, the event will also focus on the role of fans, institutions and circuit workers, a fundamental part in the development of these four decades.

An institutional and historical event that will pay tribute to the history of the circuit while looking to the future as it will be the prelude to the Spanish GP that will be held from April 24 to 26.
