For this season the engine has been developed prioritizing linear and controllable torque delivery, thanks to new distribution diagrams, revised ducts and an elongated piston profile. Thanks to these solutions, the new Xtrainer 200 2T MY27 offers an excellent riding sensation and a high level of comfort, making it a high-performance motorcycle, capable of tackling any situation.

It allows you to concentrate solely on the journey, without having to worry about physically demanding handling of the vehicle, leaving room for pure fun thanks to well-calibrated performance. Two areas can be distinguished on which the design of the new model has focused: the engine and the chassis.

Xtrainer 200 2T MY27 engine

The heart of the Xtrainer 200 2T MY27 is the result of a totally new project, which is based on the experience acquired with this displacement in the RR range (X-PRO and RACE) to conceive a new engine in line with the specific philosophy of the range. The objective has been to identify and enhance the characteristics of the more technical enduro for which the Xtrainer is designed, while winking at beginners:

Greater control, ease of handling at low speeds, pure performance at high revs, lightness and great predictability that inspires confidence. The result obtained has defined a full, linear and manageable power delivery, perfect for specific use. In detail, the main work areas of the Xtrainer 200 2T MY27 are found in:

  • Revised intake and exhaust diagrams (lower): The reduction of the intake and exhaust ports leads to a decrease in the opening area, which favors higher gas velocities at low rpm. This translates into better cylinder filling at moderate revs and an increase in available torque just above minimum. The cylinder is therefore specific, with phases designed to prioritize handling over acceleration.
  • Specific head: The geometry of the combustion chamber has been studied to increase combustion efficiency at low and medium revolutions. In particular, the very extended squish band (“long band”) generates high mixture turbulence, improving combustion speed and ignition stability even at partial loads. The compression ratio has been calibrated accordingly to maximize performance without penalizing regularity.
  • Piston: The piston profile (longer) has been chosen to work in synergy with the new phases and with the specific head. The greater bulge of its crown, compared to that used in the RR, also contributes to directing the transfer flows towards the upper part of the chamber, limiting the losses of fresh mixture towards the exhaust. The result is more efficient combustion and faster torque at low rpm.

On the other hand, in terms of mechanical and performance innovations, we could highlight, among others:

  • Reduced load clutch springs: The adoption of softer springs reduces the effort on the lever and increases modulation and pleasure in use, a fundamental aspect in technical driving (slow steps, trials obstacles). However, torque transmission remains adequate thanks to the engine’s smoother power delivery.
  • Exhaust valve: The adjustment of the exhaust valve has been revised to adapt it to the characteristics of the new engine, giving priority to torque and the smooth initial response when accelerating, avoiding sudden torque inputs.
  • Ignition advance: The ignition advance mapping has been adapted to the new fluid dynamics and compression characteristics. An optimized advance at low rpm improves behavior in the combustion chamber during the useful phase, increasing torque and making the response quick and controllable.
  • Exhaust: The new engine has been equipped with a specific exhaust system, modified with respect to that of its older sister, the 300 2T, but inspired by its geometries, to maintain the “family feeling” sound and power delivery typical of the model.
  • Filter box hose: To complete the engine assembly, a specific intake hose has also been developed. It has been designed to work in synergy with the new geometries, eliminating unwanted turbulence that could negatively affect the fluidity of the feed and, consequently, the power.

Cycle part of the Xtrainer 200 2T MY27

Regarding the cycle part, the new Xtrainer 200 2T MY27 stands out for the following characteristics:

  • Chassis: The new engine is integrated into an updated chassis, with specific fixings, developed to adapt to the different engine proportions. The design, without altering the fundamental geometries of the 300 cc model, has been aimed at maintaining the typical driving sensations of the Xtrainer range, guaranteeing a correct balance of masses, precision and ease of control even in the most technical situations.
  • Rear wheel: The choice of the rear wheel has fallen on 140/80 rubber and a 18 x 1.85 tire, maintaining a balance in the relationship between the footprint on the ground and agility. This choice has been sought by Betamotor technicians to find the ideal compromise between maneuverability and traction.

Beta Xtrainer MY27 range key updates

The new features common to the entire range refer to the following modifications:

  • Nissin brakes: With 260 mm front and 240 mm rear discs; The braking system confirms the adoption of the Japanese manufacturer’s system, but now incorporates a solid rear disc with a newly designed wavy profile that provides more modulable and progressive braking, useful especially on slower and more technical downhill sections.
  • Headlight and mask: The new LED headlight has a light beam that significantly improves superior visibility compared to the past and is integrated into a new mask that gives it a modern and recognizable identity.
  • Graphics and colors: The new graphics, completely renewed, introduce an unprecedented combination of red with the black painted chassis that reinforces the visual impact and contributes to defining the new character of the range.
  • Chain guide: The new component is more resistant than before and is not afraid of mud, stones or impacts in the channels, which reduces the risk of the chain jumping and damaging the motorcycle, increasing safety. The reinforced structure absorbs stress better, protects the fork and extends the life of the transmission.
  • Sprocket Protection: The new sprocket protective cover has been redesigned to offer wider coverage and greater resistance than the previous model, guaranteeing superior protection against knocks, debris and external agents during use, as well as greater safety for the user.

To complete the package of new features outlined above, it is worth remembering some of the fundamental characteristics of the Xtrainer, elements that continue to represent its main strengths:

  • Reduced weight: To be agile and intuitive.
  • Seat height: Reduced by 20 mm compared to the RR range, designed to convey greater safety.
  • Forks and monoshock: R16V with 43mm stems at the front and shifter at the rear. The suspension system is fully customizable, with a fork adjustable in preload and rebound, and a monoshock adjustable in spring preload, compression and rebound.
  • Beta Progressive Valve: Like all Beta 2T enduros, the Xtrainer also confirms the adoption of the adjustable valve in the exhaust, for precise calibration from the outside of the engine delivery according to the rider’s preferences.
  • Automatic mixer: The use of the mixer is confirmed in both the new 200 and the 300 model. This is located under the seat (which opens simply by pressing a button) and eliminates the need for premixing oil and gasoline.
  • Soft tires: Thanks to their soft compound and aggressive tread, they guarantee grip in any circumstance, transmitting to the driver a less abrupt response than that of a tire with a more rigid casing.
  • Cooling fan: Although the 2-stroke engine has an excellent thermal balance, the fan comes standard on the Xtrainer, to allow the engine to always remain at the optimal operating temperature, even on the slowest stretches.
  • Electric start: Precise and reliable, it is essential to restart the vehicle in the most difficult situations.
