BMW Motorrad presents its latest creation, the F 450 GS concepta proposal that seeks to expand the GS family in the accessible motorcycle segment for the A2 category. With the design practically ready for production, the F 450 GS sits between the well-known G 310 GS and F 800/900, offering a balance between drivability and off-road capability.
This is the BMW F 450 GS Concept in detail
Alexander Buckan, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad, highlights that this new concept embodies the iconic DNA of the GS family in a compact and sporty design. Inspired by the Trophy style of the R 1300 GS, its metallic Racing Blue color combination, along with red and white details, reflects the dynamic and high-performance essence that characterizes BMW in the off-road world.
The twin-cylinder engine of the F 450 GS has been created completely from scratch, seeking a perfect balance between power and lightness. With 48 HP, this engine offers optimal torque even at low revs, ideal for on- and off-road driving. The unique character of its special ignition provides a spirited response when accelerating, while its lightweight construction with materials such as magnesium reduces weight and increases efficiency.
The BMW F 450 GS Concept has been designed to excel on both paved roads and demanding terrain. With a fully adjustable inverted fork and adaptive damping inspired by rally and enduro technology, this motorcycle offers a precise and agile riding experience on any type of route. Additionally, the lightweight chassis, weighing 175kg in line with the A2 class, maximizes maneuverability and control.
Inspired by its older sister, the R 1300 GS, this F 450 GS Concept also stands out in safety and functionality. Equipped with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, high-performance brakes and adjustable riding modes, it ensures an optimal riding experience in different conditions. Integrated BMW connectivity and its 6.5-inch TFT screen allow the pilot to synchronize their smartphone and other devices, improving the experience and facilitating navigation.
Johann Simon, leader of the F 450 GS project, comments that this motorcycle will remain faithful to the concept presented. To facilitate handling, the production version will feature a more accessible seat and, as an alternative to cross-spoke wheels, high-strength cast aluminum wheels will be considered.
BMW Motorrad plans to launch the production version in 2025, offering a fully adventure-ready option in the mid-displacement segment.
