It is not the first time that we deal with some of the analog preparations of Analog Motorcycles, with Tony Prust at the head. This Ducati Formula 840 He puts on the table again of what this specialist based in the United States is capable, but also as in the same project you can pair in a balanced and efficient, past and present way, technology and an essence Old School of those that leave their mark.
Ducati Formula 840: A hybrid loaded with nuances
Analog Motorcycles has been specializing in custom constructions for several years, with totally custom motorcycles from his workshop in Harrison County, USA “Battle of the Twins 2”where last year he became champion at the controls of a Ducati.
However, as they point out from Bike Exif, this modality has become increasingly competitive, so prust decided to manufacture an even more effective “track tool”. From there this Ducati Formula 840 was born, a powerful hybrid halfway between a 750ss ducati and a Monster 796. According to Tony, its team partner, of Thomas, took a 1999 Ducati 750s already prepared for circuit.
This was equipped with an engine from a Ducati Monster 796, as well as a Öhlins rear shock and a magnesium tire equipment. Starting from this base they redraged the motorcycle completely, trying to improve it by speaking and reduce its final weight as much as possible. Among the main improvements we can highlight:
- Aluminum subchassis
- Metmachex aluminum tilting
- IMA Adjustable Aluminum Rifts
- Ducati 1098 fork with Race Tech components
- Rear shockwheat reconstructed by Ohlins
- Öhlins address shock absorber
- BERINGER COMPLETE FRENERA SYSTEM
- Spiegler metallic hose
- ETI fuel tank
- Carbon fiber fenders
- Vortex semi -guns
- Woodcraft rear strokes
- Chassis protectors and R&G protection axis
- Stainless steel escape system with Cone Engineering silencers, etc.
As for the mechanical section, he was commissioned MOTORCYCLE CORSE PERFORMANCE that will rebuild and increase the cylindrated of the engine. So it was chosen to set up a specific 840 cc kit, which also includes oversized valves, improved cams and ports with ports. Improvements were also carried out in admission, now with oversized acceleration bodies, Moto Cors and K& n filters admission tubes.
An anti -fot clutch system Yoyodyne, fast change Dynojet and an H₂O oil cooler, are also part of the improvement elements included in this preparation. All complemented by an electronic package made up of an ECU MicroTEC and an AIM panel with data registration capacity.
At the aesthetic they were looking for an eighties image for this Ducati Formula 840. On this subject, Prust comments: “The club with which we compete is the American Historical Carry Association. It is a historical racing club that offers classic and modern motorcycle clas Formula 840. “
It was time to finish off this incredible project with details such as a modified hill for the occasion, a custom seat and upholstered by Angie Dixon and a color scheme that includes a chassis finish and the inspired subchassis that wore the iconic Ducati 916 Senna at the time. “The full package ended with 154 kg with half a fuel tank, and our current configuration gives us 89 HP at the wheel, with improvement margin,” Tony says. “Now, with improved aerodynamics, it should be an exceptional track weapon in its class.”
