Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), subsidiary of production and sale of Honda motorcycles in India, has recently announced the construction of a fourth production line on its fourth floor (Vithalapur, district of Ahmedabad, Gujarat). With the start of operations planned by 2027the new line will have an annual production capacity of 650,000 units.
This will raise the total capacity of the fourth floor to 2.61 million unitsturning it into the world’s largest Honda motorcycle assembly plant. HMSI currently has four production plants in India, with a total annual production capacity of 6.14 million units.
HMSI continues to beat historical manufacturing records
In addition, the accumulated production volume reached 70 million units in April of this year, after 25 years since the beginning of production in 2001. The fourth floor began operating in February 2016, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 units, and in June of the same year, the company extended its capacity to 1.2 million units with the start of its second line.
The third line began operating in January 2024, taking the annual production capacity to 1.96 million units. Honda will invest approximately 95 million euros To build a fourth line capable of producing 650,000 motorcycle units of class 125 cc per year in the aforementioned facilities.
In turn, this restructuring process will generate 1,800 new jobs And the total production capacity of the fourth floor will increase to 2.61 million units, making it one of the largest Honda motorcycle assembly plants in the world.
Likewise, the total annual HMSI production capacity is expected to increase the 6.14 million units current to approximately 7 million in 2027, through the expansion of the production capacity planned for other plants in India.
