This is Bajaj’s secret project that will unite KTM, Triumph and Husqvarna under the same technology

Alliances within the motorcycle sector bring with them technological boasts such as the one Bajaj Auto is currently working on: A scalable electric platform which could be used to develop different models within the current ranges of both the Indian group and its strategic partners.

We are referring, of course, to KTM and Triumph, but also to Husqvarna or GasGas, within the conglomerate of companies that make up KTM AG.

Bajaj Scalable Electric Platform: What We Know

It is not the first time, nor will it be the last, in which we discuss the possibility that both KTM and Husqvarna end up having an electrified version of one of their models in their offer. Both the E-Duke and the E-Pilen are no secret to anyone at this point. Even from the official website of the Austrian business group, in 2022, some details were offered about these plug-in models, the same ones that seem to continue developing.

Now, after hearing the news that Bajaj Auto has the final version of its scalable electric platform quite advanced, the idea that both the brands attached to KTM AG and the British firm itself, end up using it in the form of a new range of electrified models, becomes even more powerful. On this matter he commented Rakesh SharmaCEO of Bajaj, during the presentation of the group’s financial results:

Bajaj prepares its own scalable electric platform

“There are some use cases, both in the entry-level and high-end sports segments, in India and globally. But they are very difficult to predict. Still, we remain committed to this sector. No one can say with certainty whether it will be a resounding success or not. But I think the loss of an opportunity is greater than the loss of investing in something that does not bear fruit.”

It seems that Bajaj Auto is not alone in this adventure of developing a scalable electric platform. The company is leveraging the know-how gained from Chetak Technology Ltd (CTL) in the process. This company is precisely the subsidiary in charge of managing Bajaj’s electric scooter business. The idea at this point is clear on the part of the Indian business group:

Bajaj prepares its own scalable electric platform

“The push for electric motorcycles is not a radical change, but an evolution: a calculated bet that guarantees to stay in the competition when the category finally takes off”as detailed by Autocar India.

Now we just have to wait for this scalable electric platform to materialize. It would be a unique opportunity for all those involved to fully enter the plug-in segment if this ambitious project finally comes to fruition.
