Achieving faster times and improving cornering performance are priorities for motorcycle racers. One crucial aspect is braking before corner entry. Bosch offers an innovative solution with its new Race eCBS system, based on its proven eCBS. This system, which debuted on the Ducati Panigale V4 during World Ducati Week 2024 in Misano, promises to significantly improve braking on the track.

Bosch’s Race eCBS system enables efficient combination of the front and rear brakes. When the front brake is applied, the ABS unit automatically increases the pressure on the rear brake, without any additional intervention from the rider. Originally designed for everyday use, this technology has been optimised for track performance by the Bosch and Ducati teams.
The system checks multiple parameters, such as front brake pressure, lean angle and wheel slip, 100 times per second. This ensures effective braking and optimal vehicle stability at all times. In addition, Race eCBS allows the rear brake to be kept engaged briefly at the apex of the turn, even after the front brake has been released, helping the bike to resume its racing line.
The main benefits of this technology include increased braking stability, improved average deceleration and optimised cornering without the extra effort required to manually control the rear brake. This feature is designed for riders of all levels, improving lap times by allowing them to concentrate on riding without worrying about the rear brake.
Ducati official test rider Alessandro Valia points out that the Race eCBS system emulates the braking technique of a professional rider, allowing the rear brake to continue acting after the front brake has been released. This helps to tighten the line on corner entry, benefiting both amateur and professional riders.
This project marks a milestone in the more than 15-year collaboration between Bosch and Ducati, demonstrating their ability to develop innovative solutions that improve motorcycle safety and performance without sacrificing the riding experience. Fevzi Yildirim, Head of Bosch Two-Wheeler and Powersports in Europe, highlights: “Together we are setting the roadmap for two-wheeled mobility now and in the future.”
