This is how Zarco and Álex Márquez are after the accidents

The hairs continue to stand on end, and a cold sweat runs through the body when one thinks about the serious consequences that the accidents of Zarco and Márquez could have had last weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Cataluña. Fortunately, neither for the Spaniard nor for the French are they going to be as serious as it seemed at first, but that does not mean that they have emerged unscathed, far from it.

Although the most terrifying accident at first was that of Álex Márquez, analyzing Zarco’s makes it truly terrifying. Basically because the Frenchman was aware at all times of what was happening while he was riding attached to Bagnaia’s motorcycle and, because later, lying on the gravel, no one wanted to touch him at first because they were afraid of aggravating his injuries.

But, of course, at one point Zarco began to get burned by Pecco’s motorcycle and, being fully conscious, he himself began to pull his own leg. Then, as he admitted, they put a track on him while he was in the gravel and the pain went down a little, but as he said “it was terrifying.”

Johann is now in France, but will not be able to undergo surgery to treat his injuries for two weeks. Put in the hands of Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, a world-famous orthopedic surgeon at the Center Orthopédique Santy in Lyon, France, specialized in knee ligament injuries and sports traumatology, they will have to wait to give the Frenchman’s body time and we literally quote the LCR statement: “It is estimated that he will have to wait a couple of weeks before undergoing surgery for the ligament injury, in order to give enough time for the initial trauma and the rest of the injuries to the knee to heal.”

After the operation, Zarco’s recovery will begin and, if possible, a return to track date will be assessed at that time. This assessment suggests that the Frenchman has an indeterminate period ahead of him, although the team has confirmed that it will continue to update the information as the date arrives.

And while Zarco waits to be able to undergo surgery, Álex is already at home

Fortunately for Álex Márquez, despite the fact that his accident seemed to have very serious consequences, the recovery process indicates that it will be faster than that of Zarco. On a Sunday in which many of us once again asked ourselves “what’s the point of this?”, the Catalan left with bruises all over his body, a slight fracture in the C7 vertebra and a fractured clavicle for which he underwent surgery on Sunday night itself.

Now Álex, who left the hospital on Monday afternoon with his characteristic smile. Of course, as with Johann, there is no scheduled return date for the two-time World Champion. In any case, the return dates of both Álex and Zarco are, right now, secondary. The important thing is that despite everything, there will be an opportunity to return.
