Just a few months have passed since Royal Enfield showed us for the first time the concept of the future Himalayan Electric Until this has stopped seeing, in the form of tests of test mules, in the middle of the development test by the diverse Indian roads. In addition, these specific units show us an image that, a priori, should not be far away with respect to the final version of the model.
The electric Himalayan closer than we think
In recent months, different news related to the development of the new electric Himalayan has been leaked. They talked openly about the stipulated deadlines in which the final model could be ready to reach dealers around the world. A business adventure that started in the last bars of 2022 when Royal Enfield’s intention was revealed to create a plug -in range in which we would undisputed an electric Himalayan.
It was during the celebration of the past EICMA 2024 when they finally made us known the first concept of the model that would be coming. Baptized under the name of Himalayan Electric 2.0it already showed us in detail the most relevant aspects of the model that would be to arrive in its final version. At the launch of the HIM-E, B GIVENARAJAN, Executive Director of Royal Enfield, said:
“In Royal Enfield, our electric mobility team moves by the aim of preserving the essential DNA of Royal Enfield and also extending it to our creative ideas and designs for electric motorcycles. This Himalayan electric motorcycle prototype is the result of this search, where the purpose and innovation are united to the distinctive design and character of Royal Enfield.”
Concludes: “This motorcycle is only part of a much greater sustainable ecosystem of exploration and adventure that we are developing in the Himalayas. From organic recharge stops to our responsible travel initiative, from the creation of self -sufficient communities to collaboration with UNESCO to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the Himalayan region, we promote numerous initiatives with passion.”
Now, after taking a look in detail to the two intercepted test mules, we can confirm that the final model could be much closer to its commercialization of what we initially expected. The images, courtesy of the local medium Rush Lane, show clearly how this electric Himalayan, not only focuses its efforts on being as close as possible (visually speaking) of a trail mount to use. It also exhibits a level of first level components and finishes.
Among them we can highlight, for example, its chassis and subchassis manufactured in aluminum, the same material they use in the lateral binding plates or on their SM Pro Platinum radial tires. The latter come with offices with offroad bridgestone battlax adventurecross tires. They are joined by other relevant details such as the design of the seat, in one piece, full LED lighting, adjustable front screen or a complete 7 -inch TFT instrument box anchored to a tower similar to that used by the rally motorcycles.
Likewise, the braking is in the hands of two lobed albums, one per axis, operated by a team of Nissin tweezers, while the suspension has a overwhelming inverted fork in front, while behind it uses a totally adjustable Ohlins shock absorber.
Said all this, for the moment, just wait for the brand to pronounce. Both to confirm the equipment described in your new electric Himalayan, and to put a date on the calendar for its official presentation.
