This is a wire frame sculpture of a Jaguar E-Typespecifically its Series 3. Made approximately at a 1:3 scale, it has wheels that can rotate, with fully functional steering.
Who is the artist? Well, unfortunately we don't know, but the style seems to be the same as the one we saw in the wire structure that silhouetted the shapes of a Porsche 993 Turbo that we published a while ago.
The sculpture consists of different types and gauges of wire. Silver wire was used for the body, brown for the interior, gold wire for the engine and the front and rear bumpers. There are red wire details. used for Jaguar lettering on the door sills, boot lid and taillights.
It measures 152 cm long, 61 cm wide and 38 cm high. Everything is made of wire, except that the wheels (with five-spoke “rims”) are covered with woven rubber so that the car can move.

The hood also opens to show the “engine”, made of course with a wire structure. The opening is the same way as the real car, leaning forward. The convertible top also folds down, so the car can be displayed in any of the configurations.
Auctioned on the Internet at the end of 2023, it reached a price of $4,500. Of course, we can imagine few more elegant endings for simple wires.
