The project started when Winston Yehresponsible for Rough Craftsdiscovered a YZ450F of flat track of the team Estenson Racing. The idea of combining that aesthetic with the Ténéré 700 was initially born in a Photoshop montage, but Yamaha Taiwan ended up providing a donor bike to turn the concept into reality. The work was carried out together with Faber Studio and gave rise to a preparation that not only radically changes the image of the Ténérébut also its weight and its configuration of the cycle part.
47 kg less than the original Ténéré
One of the most striking data of the «YenereZ 700 FT» is your weight. The Ténéré 700 The standard version used as a base is around 205 kg, while this preparation remains at 158 kg with fuel and all liquids. Obviously, to achieve those 47 kg difference it was necessary to replace a good part of the original elements.
The steel rear subframe disappeared and was replaced by an aluminum structure from a YZ450F. The weight reduction completely transforms the character of the bike and brings it much closer to a machine designed for “sow one’s wild oats” on a dirt track.
Specific suspensions for flat track
The cycle part has also received a thorough review. Rough Crafts installed some forks Ohlins RXF48S modified and shortened to adapt to the needs of this configuration.
