Time and time again, AC Sanctuary tells us about the level of perfection they can achieve in any of their projects. This Kawasaki Z1-R RCM-696a special commission for a client from Gunma Prefecture, is a true reflection of what we discussed. In it, the Japanese coach has deposited his more than three decades of experience, fusing past, present and future in a genuine and unique way.
Kawasaki Z1-R RCM-696 by AC Sanctuary in detail
Over the years, AC Sanctuary’s well-known RCM (Real Complete Machine) modification and improvement program has been perfecting and expanding the preparation possibilities on different iconic models from the four big Japanese brands. Now, after completing this Kawasaki Z1-R RCM-696, we are more aware than ever of the level of work of the renowned Japanese specialist.
As in other previous works, this time the perfect balance has been achieved that offers us a classic image conveniently adorned by the latest technical boasts that high-level restomod allows. Starting with the front fairing support, made in CNC, which allows adjustment in different directions, in addition to giving the front a compact image.
Another trick that the AC Sanctuary team has come up with when shaping this Z1-R RCM-696 is the customized instrument panel made of fiber and aluminum. On it we can elucidate a complete set of Stack indicators, as well as the identification plate that gives its name to this incredible preparation. But this is just the beginning of a long list of components and modifications that includes, among others:
- 17” OZ Racing wheels
- Öhlins suspension
- Brembo brakes
- Sunstar Discs
- 6-speed EVO gearbox
- Type 1 artisanal tank manufactured by Toyo
- Custom carbon fiber bodywork
- Titanium Nitro Exhaust System with Carbon Muffler
- Sculpture rocker, etc.
The chassis of this Z1-R RCM-696 has followed the usual process of disassembly, reinforcement and subsequent painting. Inside is the mechanics, which has been completely rebuilt in collaboration with DiNx, Sanctuary’s precision engine workshop, as specified by Pipe Burn. It now uses cast boron cast iron liners, 5.5mm DiNx valves and a Yoshimura ST2 camshaft.
A new Sanctuary Mecha oil pump guarantees optimal engine cooling even in the most demanding moments. Another section that has been conveniently optimized is the carburetion. For this purpose, a Yoshi kit has been installed, adapted to the new general requirements offered by the motorcycle.
At this point we can only congratulate, once again, the great Nakamura-sanfounder and CEO of AC Sanctuary who has spent half his life developing and fine-tuning his special RCM program, now available in its 11th evolution. Now, more than ever, we can find in it the best components that can be installed in a Japanese air-cooled frame, like this Z1-R.
