Bujar and Gazmend Muharemi brothers, founders of Auto Factory in 2013, are the ideologues of such fascinating preparations as this is Africa twin type 22one of his latest projects where they have managed to mix in their exact extent, past and future past on the same motorcycle.
To do this, maintaining the technology that equips the current CRF1100, they have added all the necessary elements so that, in a first look, we are fully convinced of being before a typical low -style mount of the eighties, similar to those that competed in the most important raids of the time.
AUTORA AFRICA TWIN TYPE 22 IN DETAIL
It is not the first time we are talking about the work of this British company specialized in the “Manual manufacturing and custom motorcycle body”as they themselves advertise on their official website. Previously, we have known high level projects such as its Yamaha XSR900 Type 11 or the Yamaha XS650 Type 6.
In all of them, including the latter Africa Twin Type 22, there is a common denominator: love for the classic aspect. All its preparations treasure that neo -retro halo, with certain futuristic touches that literally make the difference.
In the case of Type 22 it began as an experiment to see what they could create combining the design of the Honda Paris Dakar motorcycles and enduro from the mid -80s with a modern motorcycle. To do this, the aforementioned vintage appearance with bulky shapes in the part of the fuel tank or the seat sought from the first moment. Also in the design of your escape system and of course on the front.
Perhaps the latter is the most identifying feature of this Africa Twin Type 22, with two huge round headlights that, unlike other low -style preparations that we have known previously, do not have the characteristic protective metal grid. According to its creators: “The front fairing area and the front headlights was especially complicated due to the Canbus system of Honda.”
They conclude: “We did not want this to limit us, so we disassemble and apply reverse engineering to the internal components of the standard front headlights, adapting them to LED housings. It was an important challenge, but the result was worth it. ” Then there are the key aspects of the project that look to the future, such as the integration of the browser screen at the top of the gas tank.
The seat is designed for a single person and is removable, upholstered in red Alcantara to combine with the motorcycle colors scheme. Use a key and magnet mechanism to stay in place. From Auto Fabrica they decided to keep the original electrical installation unaltered in this Africa Twin Type 22, so it has state -of -the -art technologies such as Apple Carplay, cruise control, driving modes, satellite navigation or traction control.
The high point of this incredible work is put by a Öhlins FTR suspension team, Brembo Monoblocks braking system or the customary exhaust system, manufactured in titanium. In short, a jewel loaded with quality details and unique elements, which are responsible for granting a personal and unrepeatable image to the purest Dakar style of the 80s.
