Morbidelliproperty of MBP Motorcycleand in turn integrated within the Chinese business conglomerate Keeway Groupseems to be ready to launch a new line of models with a neo-retro design and a clear inspiration “Modern Classic” in the purest Triumph style. That is at least what we deduce after leaking the latest sketches of this future range.
Morbidelli’s future neo retro range in detail
As we recently learned thanks to the German media Motorrad Online, Morbidelli would be in the middle of developing at least three neo-retro style models. Two of them powered by the mechanics already seen in the current Brixton Crossfire 500
In short, we would be facing the same recipe used by many of the reborn European brands: European design and Asian technique. Returning to Brixton, it uses mechanics developed by its Chinese partner GK Gaokin. It seems obvious that Morbidelli intends to follow in their footsteps with the future NR 502 X and NR 1202 X Timeless. The first is divided into two variants, one of them with a marked scrambler style.
On the other hand, we have the aforementioned NR 1202 In this case, the brand declares a final power of 83 HP at 6,550 rpm. In the case of the two medium-displacement variants, it is almost certain that they will end up equipping the block that gives life to the Crossfire 500 X.
Also in parallel arrangement, this 486 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder offers final performance within the legal limit of the current A2 license: 48 HP at 8,500 rpm. Beyond the net figures, we have a design (in any of the three models) that reminds us de facto of the frames that make up the Modern Classics range sold by Triumph.
This aspect is even more notable than in the frames that are part of Brixton’s offer, characterized by some homegrown features. In any case, we are only talking about initial sketches, so the final design of any of the models exhibited therein could end up varying. It is assumed that such characteristic elements as the radial type tires, the tubular steel chassis or ergonomics aimed at multipurpose use, would remain unchanged if any of them finally materialize.
On the other hand, we assume that, if mass produced, both the NR 502 X and its older sister, the NR 1202 All data, in any case, that would still be confirmed by the brand itself, so for now we just have to wait for new news related to the subject.
