The concession system reached MotoGP to help manufacturers who were at the bottom of the platoon, and that could approach the head posts thanks to certain advantages.
In order for the concessions to be fair, deadlines and groups were established to evaluate in what situation are they found. The two “average” previous seasons are taken into account. That is, in the middle of the year the situation is evaluated, taking into account in the first case half of the present season and the second half of the past, and in another the entire current campaign.
In this case we are facing that mid -year measurement that decides the concessions that will be taken in the remainder of the season, divided into four groups: A, B, C and D. What teams are part of each group depends on the percentage of points obtained by the best brand pilot in each GP. The A is for those that have been made with more than 85%, the B between 60 and 85%, C if they achieve between 35%and 60%and D if they have achieved less than 35%.
With that, more wildcards are achieved, more tires or less for tests have, the pilots that the tests and the circuits can do, more or less engines can be used per year, have more or less available aerodynamic evolutions and even have freezing of the evolution of the engine or can evolve it.
Regulation concessions for the second half of 2025
Thanks to this, these concessions, there are teams that if they want to use them and do so effectively can move forward in competitiveness until they have the possibility of fighting the fastest. That is what happens, at least, in theory. Because the reality is that Ducati’s streak and its implacable rhythm means that they are in group A, and that no other manufacturer is not only in this first group but also in the B.
Thus, in group C it is where we find the following manufacturers. In the case of KTM his regularity despite not having managed to beat Ducati, they were already safe as group C before the last GP. It was not so in the case of Aprilia, who was waiting for what happened in the GP of the Czech Republic so that to know at what level of concessions they would be. Finally and with the points achieved, they ended up ending in this group.
Finally we have the group D in which we find Honda and Yamaha. Despite taking time with the concessions, it was practically sure to continue until the end of 2025 due to the situation they lived in 2024, but they are relatively close to losing it, thanks to the specific performances of some of their pilots this season.
