The Grand Prix of Catalonia gives the departure pistol at the close of the MotoGP 2025 season, the last third of the calendar begins on the Montmeló track and seeing the situation of the season and the last races may be seeing the outcome of the fight for the title.
A struggle for the title that, at least for now, is more mathematics than anything else, since before arriving in Catalonia, only six pilots would continue to have mathematical options in case Marc did not add a single point to Valencia and they earn everything. There are 296 points at stake counting the Grand Prix of Catalonia and Morbidelli (sixth) is 294, Acosta at 291 and Bezzecchi at 258.
But there is more and that is that Bagnaia, third classified, is 227 and after Montmeló will be at stake 259 points, so if it yields to Marc 32 points this weekend could be left too. Therefore, the only one that today has some more mathematical option, but practically unreal, except disaster, is an Álex Márquez who is 175 points from his brother, but that carries a complicated streak of results.
With all this you have to wait to see what Marc is capable of in Catalonia, on a track that always gives the feeling that it costs him a little more. We have already seen how after the mistakes of Austin and Jerez, the races are taken with less hurry, but surely points to a new triplet that leaves him at the gates of the title. And it is that Montmeló is the first of two races on consecutive weekends and if the difference in points against the second classified to 222 increases, when the checkered flag drops in Misano will be champion with six large awards ahead.
Logically, it is speaking in the long term and for this Marc would have to add between the two weekends 47 points more than Álex and that is something that, for example, has happened in the last two doubles. In Germany-Austria Marc added 74 points compared to Álex (52) and in Austria-Hungary 74 Marc and 19 Álex (55). Therefore, the window begins to open and only seems a matter of time.
All this also goes through the performance that pilots such as Bagnaia can play, which ended up satisfied despite the result in Austria, Bezzecchi and Martín with the April and Pedro Acosta with the KTM. All of them have been very competitive in recent weekends and are the main candidates to fight for the podium with permission, yes, of Morbidelli and Di Giannantonio that perhaps they are not so regular, but that when they are they can carry out great performances.
Where to see the Grand Prix of Catalonia 2025
It must be said that this time it will be broadcast in open, although not for the whole country. And it is that the agreement with Atresmedia covers three GP a year, which are that of Spain, that of Aragon and that of Valencia. But TV3, the regional television of Catalonia, will be the one who broadcasts the entire weekend. On Friday the training will have a place in their sports channel, ESPOR3 and Saturday and Sunday will be the main TV3 channel who is responsible for the broadcast.
In addition to that, there are still the usual possibilities to enjoy the careers and training of the GP of Catalonia. That is, on the one hand, we have Dazn and its coverage that starts on Thursday with the press conference and that can be enjoyed both on the platform and through the agreements with other operators and, on the other, MotoGP and its videopass in English and with access to historical contents of the web.
